Tres Bon!,
This review is from: French Fun: The Real Spoken Language of Québec (Paperback)
This book is fantastic. I am a writer of fiction and one of my works is about the magnificant sport of ice hockey. Before and even during my quest to get help with the language from on line people, this book came to the rescue with its simplicity and abundance of phrases with common, everyday sayings that a textbook could not offer. My hat is off to, Mr. Timmons. Would like to see more of the same!

This is an excellent, light hearted look at the unique and beautiful québécois dialect. It's fun, easy reading and the pictures used to illustrate the words, as well as the amusing examples of word usage, help you to memorise the terms and use them properly. An ideal step up from this would be a "teach yourself" style quebec french book with audio tracks and dialogue, because reading the words is no comparison to hearing quebec french in all its glory. That's my next step! This book will make you yearn for at least a holiday to la belle province!

This book is great, especially for learners of French. I bought it as a guide to the dialect of Quebec for a project I was doing in my French class and found it fascinating. I am going to study French in Quebec this summer and found that a lot of the phrases this book contains are used there. This book is also wonderful for anyone who is interested in dialectology!

I'm learning French, actually Quebec French, to move to Quebec City with my girlfriend. You must realize that Canadian French (and slang) is different in Montreal than in Quebec City than in Gaspe than in ... Anyways, she found this book hilarious because it does capture the slang that she uses. And she finds it even more hilarious when I try to speak this way too ...

I bought this book and it goes through a bunch of phrases common to Quebec. There's also a short pronunciation guide and minor pronunciation tips throughout. I gave it a 4, because it would have been better with a cassette tape to teach you how to pronounce these words :)

If you go to Quebec and are not a native Francophone- read this book. A French book will tell you about the "slang" and wording in France- not Quebec. This book was a joy to read and very helpful for those of us with only tourist speak.

French Fun is a delightful little book that sparks my interest in the common everyday language of Quebec. It may not be a full blown dictionary, but I wasn't expecting it to be. It does give tidbits of information about the context and the literal meaning of these words or phrases. Often times the author shows a good sense of humor. I really enjoyed having the book and I do recommend it for anyone who wants a break from time to time of learning French the old academic way. This book is a sight for sore reading!

This book is excellent because it delivers exactly what it says it will. It's by no means an exhaustive dictionnary of all the slang and idioms in the french language. Instead, as it promises, it is a fun, easy to use dictionnary of many key quebecois idioms to add some colour to your speaking.
A quick read-through of this book will have you sounding instantly more Québecois, and each time you pick it up afterwards you'll find something new.

This review is from: French Fun: The Real Spoken Language of Québec (Paperback)
when I had opened it,I felt very dissapoint. It is like a mini-dictionary that only has some Canadian French words.and some words in its list are same as French French:(it hasn't CD or Tape to acoompany it so I can't listen, study and compare the pronunciation to ordinary French.it has not writen Quebecois grammar and some more what I want to learn.it give me a little help to know a accent of French,so I give it 2 stars.
