Editorial Reviews

Having already sauced up the charts with the dirty funk of ‘Bad Ass Strippa’, Jentina returns with the delectable ‘French Kisses’. Written by Cathy Dennis this is a much more mature sounding record than her debut and marks Jentina out as one to watch in 2004 and beyond. The title track is b/w three mixes, 'French Kisses' (Switch's Jack The Box Remix, E-Smoove Remix, & Search & Destroy Remix).

1.0 out of 5 stars Rubbish From An Irrelevant One Hit Wonder, June 28, 2005
This review is from: French Kiss (Audio CD)
Jentina was promoted in the UK as a massive 'street sensation' with her debut Bad Ass Strippa. The video to that song showed her off as a Vanilla Ice wannabe that couldn't rap so you can understand why it bombed. Changing tack, Jentina's record company decided to revamp her from Vanilla Ice copyist to a Raporexic mess with a song that was meant for Kylie.

French Kisses is the result.

It flopped. Badly. Rival MC Lady Sovereign released a diss song called Sad Arse Strippa (you can download it somewhere as it's an online MP3 only) and proceeded to eviscerate poor Jentina's career before it even began. Not only did it ruin Jentina (she apparantly burst out crying when she heard it, personally I would have made her listen to French Kisses, her rapping is punishment enough) but it made her the laughing stock of the UK rap movement.

That is how terrible Jentina is. She's not even as good as Vanilla Ice. How she got a record deal as a rapper is beyond me. Seemingly her A&R people hate Lady Sovereign for 'destroying' Jentina but to be fair, she's made a good job of that herself. Check out her official site to see the horror stories that are her videos.

French Kisses sounds like a fat, deformed relative to Britney's Toxic, which is written by the same people in fact.

Jentina is now selling her tacky records in Italy and has been dropped by her label now. Please don't buy this record, buy M.I.A. instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best pop songs I've heard in a long time!!, March 15, 2005

This review is from: French Kiss (Audio CD)
This song is honestly one of the best pop songs I've heard in a long time. It's dance/pop/r&b with a touch of oriental music. You need to hear it for yourself to see what I'm talking about. Unfortunately, it didn't do well on the UK charts because after her terrible debut single "Bad Ass Stripper," people thought she was a joke and refused to give her another chance. I'm sure if this had been the first single, it would have done really well. I swear, when I hear the garbage that Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears comes out with, it blows me away how a song like this that is actually really good could flop. But if you're like me, don't assume just because something charts well that it's good and don't assume that if something charts bad that it isn't good. You really just never know. Definitely buy it!
