5.0 out of 5 stars I love this, and I never buy movie soundtracks!
Every time I see this movie with someone and we get as far as the scene where Kevin Kline is stealing a car, and "Les yeux de ton pere" starts up, they inevitably say, "I HAVE to get this soundtrack!"

My sentiments exactly. I've always said the soundtrack to this movie is worth the price of admission just by itself--there's something for everyone...

1.0 out of 5 stars Never Receiced Item
I never received the item. Laptopshop did NOTHING to remedy the situation. They were slow and so unresponsive I had to contact Amazon direct; I did get a refund.
I would NEVER purchase anything from this seller in the future.
Until this episode, I NEVER had any problems ordering from Amazon.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this, and I never buy movie soundtracks!, November 26, 1999

This review is from: French Kiss: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Every time I see this movie with someone and we get as far as the scene where Kevin Kline is stealing a car, and "Les yeux de ton pere" starts up, they inevitably say, "I HAVE to get this soundtrack!"

My sentiments exactly. I've always said the soundtrack to this movie is worth the price of admission just by itself--there's something for everyone on there (REALLY varied and eclectic), but it's all centered around that basic French feel. I can't even single out a favorite song, they're all so outstanding (and different!) it's hard to compare. Honestly, the album's opened up new musical tastes for me--The Beautiful South, Zucchero, even Bobby Darin!

Simply put, it's a great collection of songs. If you like fun, romantic music, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very evocative, sentimental music, November 19, 2002

This is one of the best movie soundtracks that I have ever listened to . All the songs, evoke different feelings of melancholy, joy and happiness.

Listening to the CD, evoked such a good sense of well-being and of being loved, not just by a significant other but just knowing how it feels to have someone care about you or how you feel when you care about someone.

I borrowed the CD from a friend because I had listened to La Mer and liked it. Thank you DEFB. After watching the movie and listening to the entire CD afterwards, I knew that I had to add this to my collection. The CD marries well with the movie. It reinforces all those feelings of unselfish love, sacrifice and caring that I got from the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Dinner Music, March 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: French Kiss: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I am currently looking for a CD that rivals this one for great dinner music. Since I've had this CD for several years it is getting scratched from so much loving use when we entertain. I like it because it contains slow and upbeat songs and has a variety of artists...some well known oldies but goodies such as Louis Armstrong, Van Morrison, Ella Ftizgerald and the Beautiful South. I love it because it alternates between instrumental and sung which is great for dining because at times you need the voice to fill in the voids and at other times you only want the instruments. It never gets too loud that you need to turn it down or too low...no adjustment is necessary other than starting the CD again once it has stopped; hence the search for another CD along these lines of "lightweight pop". You can only play a great CD so many times before the guests start to look at you funny! I've had guests recognize the CD and tell me it is their favourite too! It brings to mind the movie and that is a conversation piece in itself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music for the Movie in My Head, November 12, 2000

I never saw the movie--my best friend, a major movie-holic, lent me the CD, saying she thought I'd like it. Was she right! I must've listened to it 100 times before I finally gave it back to her and now it's on my wish list (Clio, are you reading this?). If nobody gives it to me for Xmas, I'll buy it myself. It is just great movie music that evokes so many feelings, and you never get tired of listening to it. It would be hard to pick a favorite track, but I love "Someone Like You" (a gorgeous, romantic, well-orchestrated ballad); "Les Yeux Ouverts" (nice, relaxed French groove); "I Want You" (I could fall in love to this one too); "La Mer" (surprisingly, Kevin Klein can carry a tune, and the arrangement and the song suit his voice very well, making the thing a nice little package); and "I Love Paris" (kicky and fun). Jeez, that's just about the whole CD! I recommend this to anybody. It's just good music with a nice French feeling to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and very French, November 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: French Kiss: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Even though I don't buy Soundtracks, this one is a must. The mix of French songs by both French and American artists really offers feel good, enjoyable music. If you have any fond memories of Europe/France, this CD will help you revisit. Oh, Kevin Klein does a great job singing 'La Mer'!

5.0 out of 5 stars Anything with Van Morrison deserves 5 stars, November 21, 2001
By
Michelle Nichols (Farmington Hills, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: French Kiss: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I am a big fan of Van Morrison, myself, and I was...shall we say overly anticipating his performance on this CD. I knew the song, 'Someone like you' was on the soundtrack and that is what drew me to it. However, I am very impressed by other tracks as well by lesser known gifted artists, such as Zuccero--Feels like a Woman-which I put on repeat and just let it go! This man's voice is strongly unique and powerful. I was especially surprised to hear Kevin Kline's melodic voice, so soothing and unobtrusive. He is a breath of fresh air. The French songs by various artists I've never heard was charming and romantic. To top this phenomenal CD and to stay true to the classic music found in most of Meg Ryan's movies is none other than the great Ella Fitzgerald's rendition of 'I love Paris'--an ethereal and serene touch to an already exquisite CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great smoochie music for dancing cheek to cheek!, September 11, 2001
This review is from: French Kiss: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
This is a collection of classic tracks which conjure up France, Paris, good food, good wine and romance. Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald form neat counterpoints to some of the great french performers. The overall theme of this collection is Romance, as it was in the Movie.

As with any CD there are a couple I don't like, but I won't say which ones, because that is purely a matter of taste. I was amazed and astounded by Kevin Klines professional and dare I say it Gallically sexy rendition of La Mer. A tour de force Monsieur Kline!

If you like candlelit meals at home, dancing in the lounge with your one true love, you can't find a better CD than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Imagery, May 17, 1999
This review is from: French Kiss: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The music on the French Kiss CD makes the listener wistful. The classic songs conjure up memories I wish I had: of dusky cafes, or a balcony at sunset. This CD makes everything feel perfect, even if only for a moment. ALL of the songs are wonderful; there's no need to press the 'skip' button. Anyone interested in having a feeling of mystery and warm sunlight in their life should get this CD.
