If you like the blog then you will enjoy,
By Alice Griffin "Travel Author & Writer ~ Boate... (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: French Kissing (Paperback)
If you read Petite's blog, which no doubt a large proportion of readers of this book have, then you will probably enjoy this book. No it's not profound or life-changing, it's a light read perfect for holidays or if you just want something to snuggle down with along with a hot chocolate. It has all the twists, turns, laughter and tears that are associated with a young woman's life and the author's obvious knowledge of Paris adds a certain something more to the story.

I enjoyed reading Catherine Sanderson's debut novel I think because it was based on a true story. This book seems like the same thing, only with the names changing. I was a little disappointed in the content but it was able to keep me interested.

The inimitable Catherine Sanderson,
By Steven L. Griffin Sr. "curmudgeon" (Winter Park, Florida United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: French Kissing (Paperback)
This is the first novel by Catherine Sanderson, author of the memoir and blog Petite Anglaise. This book is a joy to read, due to the author's tart wit, frank sexuality, obvious knowledge of Paris, and insight into young women in and out of love and desire. The writing is crisp and clear, and the characters are real and memorable. Catherine has chosen to transition from nonfiction to fiction by staying close to what she knows best. I look forward to her next book. Read this with a glass of wine in the evening or a croissant and bowl of coffee on a morning after you've slept in.

French Kissing was an entertaining read. The characters are believable and it was easy for me to sympathize with all of them. I also lived in France for a number of years and found it nice to hear about all the old places, etc.
A very enjoyable read overall. I look forward to her next novel. |
