Book Description

Learning to speak French is not a daunting task. It should be a pleasurable effort and one that could bring you enormous rewards. One of the main reasons for which French is an easy language to learn is because it is well organised. This book is dedicated to help you construct the French language from building blocks that I will provide for you. It will also demonstrate how you can “train” your brain to speak French such as a toddler would, and how it is not necessary for you to attend any course to learn to speak the language.

The most fun you will have with learning French is perhaps when you speak to yourself. In fact, I recommend that you do so, on a regular basis. Getting used to the pronunciation of every word is one of the most important things that you can do when learning this language. Besides which, your brain needs to familiarize itself with the sounds of the French language. This “training” is a type of immersion, but one that you can do easily at home in your own time.

Therefore, this book will provide you with the guidelines and assistance that you will need to make your journey into the learning of the language a lot easier and much more effective.

I have perfected and used this self-immersion training system for over 20 years while tutoring English students of various ages in Canada and abroad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective Guide to Learning French! May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Excellent book! I love learning languages (I currently speak English and Japanese), and I desperately wanted to add French to my list. Thus, I started the difficult task of finding information and attempting to teach myself. However, this proved to be quite difficult until I found this book! "French: Learn the Easy Way," indeed makes learning French easy and uncomplicated. This book describes how the language is organized, and how one can use the organization within his or her own language studies. Truly the organization can be the secret to easy learning and memorization. The book also provides a method that allows you to easily construct your own sentences. As long as you use the building blocks provided, you can literally build your own language constructions.

Perhaps my favorite aspect is the fact the book allows me to learn the language at my own pace. With my busy work and family schedule, it is difficult to find time to take classes and sometimes hard to even sit down with a book. With this book, I have learned the importance of constant practice of pronunciation and sentence construction. The book gives the reader the tools to learn the art of creating your own immersion situation. No need to visit Paris or a classroom! Have fun learning a new language!! Effective and Easy to Understand---5/5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can Learn French April 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a useful and practical guide for anyone seeking to learn to speak french. I studied french years ago in high school, so do have some familiarity with the language. Jacques is a good teacher and goes into areas such as conjugation, idioms, french body language, understanding vowels, speaking french in Canada versus France plus had tips to improve speaking fluently. He points to some web resources that are quite helpful.

There are sections that cover important phrases needed in various contexts such as eating in restaurants, going about one's daily routines and shopping. Jacques wants the reader to learn the language in a fun way and also has some motivational tips that are very encouraging.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing November 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book with the intention of brushing up my rusty French. I found it really sloppily written - the author's English is terrible and he has even made basic mistakes of confusing adverbs and adjectives. His chapter on French pronunciation is badly worded and completely misleading. After wading through a few chapters I abandoned this book and bought the The Ultimate French Review and Practice, with which I am delighted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why not do it the easy way? June 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
For my PhD, I had to learn French and German. We called it our "second languages" because we had to be able to communicate with scholars in France and Germany. I used to tease my classmates by saying that French is so easy, we shouldn't call it a second language. But I only had to read it.

Speaking and hearing French is quite a different story, and poses new and interesting challenges.

You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on a college course, or fork over even more money for expensive software.

This book will help you learn French the easy way - it will still take some practice, but it will be fun.

Thanks

2.0 out of 5 stars Quite a few mistakes August 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book contains grammatical English errors and several French errors that even I spotted.

"je parles"

"sagement" = quietly or gently.

Bzzt!

In addition, the author is needlessly repetitive, going on and on about the importance of immersion. Got it!

Save your money and look for something better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parlez-vous Francais? Oui! June 13, 2012

Learn French by reading English! This book was fantastic at simplifying what I used to think were incomprehensible French sounds into English sounds I can recognize and remember. Forget the boring format of French classes! Immerse yourslef in French by speaking to yourself. The book is easy to follow at your own pace and helps you develop common day skills in French. Je le recommande!

This book is an awesome tool to have in your back pocket. I had almostforgotten all the French I had learnt at school but with this book I was reminded of everything I had learned ins school and much more.

Its great for all age groups and starts with the basics including how to pronounce words and where to go for more information.

The layout is simple so you can find specific things quickly if you need to. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn a new language or just has a love for learning any langauge.

This has been an excellent handbook for learning French. It's been particularly good to have it electronically because I dip in and out of the lessons at a moment's notice. Later this year, I have to travel to France so I've bought a few books, but have found this to be the most helpful (especially compared to some of the overwhelming French language tomes). Not only do you get lots of English pronunciation so that you are literally speaking French as soon as you open the book, you get a great guide for taking your learning further. Chapter 3 focuses on words that are similar in both English and French. This chapter helped give me confidence with speaking the language. There are many tips and pieces of advice that are helpful for anyone wanting to learn French. I like the style of this book and feel that it's worth picking up and clicking up. Highly recommended to all. (I bought this book on my UK Kindle but thought it appropriate to leave a review on this site too.)

This is okay. I would rather use BAbbel. It is not easy to maneuver. You must try it and see what you think. I would not download it again.
