5.0 out of 5 stars Tres Chic...Tres Magnifique!!
Along with Charles Faudree's new Interiors, I have been anxiously awaiting Betty Lou Phillips' The French Room. I wasn't disappointed. Although not every lifestyle allows for the abundance of objets d'art or the high-end luxury fabrics on every upholstered piece, I can still appreciate the beauty and design of the rooms presented. I like the somewhat cleaner line of...

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm not feeling the French...
Every book by Betty Lou Phillips I have purchased I have sent back. I do not know why I thought this book might be different, that I actually might enjoy it. I'm not feeling the French influence, maybe a few pages, but it looks like the normal over the top American style decorating. I'm sure the home owners spent plenty of money in their homes but it certainly is not my...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tres Chic...Tres Magnifique!!, September 30, 2008
This review is from: The French Room (Hardcover)
Along with Charles Faudree's new Interiors, I have been anxiously awaiting Betty Lou Phillips' The French Room. I wasn't disappointed. Although not every lifestyle allows for the abundance of objets d'art or the high-end luxury fabrics on every upholstered piece, I can still appreciate the beauty and design of the rooms presented. I like the somewhat cleaner line of Ms. Phillips' interiors and those of the designers also featured. It's a shame that this is a decorating style that does not transition itself down well to the mass market, but maybe that's why it's so appealing. Lovely photographs and a wealth of anecdotal information on accomplishing the French style...whatever your budget.

Another library shelf must-have. Great taking off point to redesign your room. Gives you pictorial direction on furnishings from all angles--upholstery fabrics, style of upholstery especially in sofa skirt/arm design, room layout, accessories, it's all there! Great resource for any DIY Interior Designer who loves all things French!

This review is from: The French Room (Hardcover)
Every time I look throuigh this beautifully illustrated and written book, I find more ideas and inspiration. I am so glad to have The French Room as my own so I can refer back to the pages for details and other decorating tips. I think that it is a wonderful Christmas gift for friends who appreciate owning or dreaming about elegantly appointed homes. For those who have Betty Lou's other books, this is a must-have book for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The French House a la American Lifestyle, February 16, 2009
This review is from: The French Room (Hardcover)

I have all of Betty's books and enjoy them all. They inspire me in my French Decor Fettish. I always take mine one step further though with authentic Sevres' French Porcelain added for the perfect touch. The original chateau on the outskirts of Paris is still there & has a shop where you can purchase even today....every oil barron home I have ever visited has this same "look".

Another great book from Betty Lou Phillips! If you love details, you will love this book. (any of her books for that matter) Page after page, beautiful combinations of fabrics, trims, upholstery details, and accessories. If you think it's beautiful the first time through it, sit down with your magnifying glass......you will find impeccible details everywhere. It would be hard to think she has overlooked anything. You won't be dissappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime!, July 11, 2011
This review is from: The French Room (Hardcover)
I love Betty Lou Phillips' décors, she puts into pictures what my soul craves for in my surroundings. I have flipped through this book several times and I am never tired of looking through it. I keep discovering little suprises here and there. Even though I say that this is the best. I know that the next book will be even better! I can't wait.

Totally LOVED this book. It has the most gorgeous interiors. Love the American interpretation of European interiors - the result is a thing of beauty. The photos are beautiful and the choice of interiors is perfect. Really appreciated the fact that i could view some of the inside of the book on-line. Also, good on you Amazon - this book cost me way less than what i could have bought it for, retail, here in Australia. Cheers!
