Product Description

French Toast Crunch is a breakfast cereal launched in 1995 artificially flavoured to taste like French toast, by the General Mills company. The cereal pieces originally looked like mini slices of French toast, but General Mills changed the cereal to a style similar in appearance to Cinnamon Toast Crunch, a thin, wavy square sprinkled with flavoring. In 2006, General Mills discontinued French Toast Crunch in the United States. French Toast Crunch is still produced and marketed in Canada as "French Toast Crunch" and "Cruque Pain Dore". Canadian French Toast Crunch is made in the original recipe and form (mini slices).

I remember loving French Toast Crunch when I was just a youngster. With it's miniature slice of bread shapes and rich, buttery French Toast flavor, it made all the other cereals look like a joke! I never ate anything else. Unfortunately, one day my parents came back from the grocery store empty-handed and told me there was no more French Toast Crunch. It had been taken off the market. At first I refused to believe them. Then I demanded that they put an end to their tom-foolery and hand the stuff over! It hit me like a freight train when I noticed a small tear in my mother's eye and I positively had a mental breakdown. I cried for weeks, saw guidance counselors at my school, but it seemed like only time would heal the wound.

It did - sort of. I attempted to move on to various other cereals in the hopes of finding a new love, but eventually drifted away from cereal as I matured. I moved on to oatmeal, cream of wheat, bagels, SQUAGELS of all things. I left home for college and thought that I had forgotten about French Toast Crunch for good...

Until my mother called me from home in hysterics. She was blubbering like a fool and I could hardly understand a word she was saying. Eventually I caught the only three I needed to hear: French, Toast, Crunch. It was back.

I burst out of my dormitory like a Kenyan in the Olympics. I ran the nearly four miles to my local grocery store without the slightest pause, grabbed a box from the shelf without giving it a second glace, payed the grimacing teenager at the register, and booked right on home again salivating all the way!

The first thing I noticed when I poured my first bowl was the difference in shape. I blew it off in my frantic state of mind, but came to a complete halt when I put the garbage in my mouth.

For some reason I remember French Toast Crunch having little bread shaped pieces. These just look like Cinneamon Toast Crunch with different Seasonings.
