We've been using one of these for a really time, around 3+ years. They enable your body's natural perspiration without the stinky. We apply right after a shower, so unless you are overzealous in drying yourself off, there is no need to wet the stick. If I need to wet it, I turn it upside down and a quick spray does the trick enough to apply but not cause water to drip down the torso. These are awesome, and it isn't a gel so it travels easy. Really, I can't say enough good about how well these work for us. Don't drop it, cause it can be a bit rough for a while if a piece breaks off (the offending person in our house has to use the rough spot until it is back to smooth as punishment).

My wife and I have been using ONE of these for over 3 years now and it is still working like the first day we bought it. If you are looking for an alternative to mainstream deoderants then this is it. I can work outside all day in FL and yes I will sweat but I am not stinky at the end of the day. I have only had to reapply once or twice over three years of using "the rock." My wife has had absolutly no complaints either. We think it is wonderful!

After reading about how the aluminum-based active ingredients in mainstream antiperspirants have been shown to be neurotoxic (among other toxic effects) in various lab animals, I decided to try a natural alternative. The closest things I found were deodorants which, while not stopping the sweating, supposedly neutralize the odor left by sweat.

I wanted something that was fragrance-free, and the first thing I found that seemed suitable was Tom's of Maine's, which turned out to be awful. Even though it didn't have added fragrance, it smelled unpleasant, it was sticky, and it left my skin with a raw, "acid-burned" feeling for some reason. A woman I talked to mentioned "deodorant stones" she'd heard about before I ever came across any. Where I'm from, they don't sell these in mainstream grocery stores.

Eventually I discovered a brand of deodorant stone at Drug Emporium. I was mostly pleased with it, but it was shaped like a peg and this made holding it feel awkward as I held and applied it. I used it for a very long time before discovering this product, which I've found I prefer because even though the two are similarly effective, this is shaped and dispensed like a regular deodorant contained inside plastic, which makes it easier to hold. The wider surface area makes applying it less annoying than rubbing a smaller round tip on as well.

I re-wet this in the tap frequently as I rub it on, and I have found that the more thorough I am, the more effective it is and the longer its effect lasts. I probably spend a few minutes applying it thoroughly on all odor-prone areas at least twice.

At the rate this has been decreasing, I'm skeptical that it's going to last me 3+ years, like some other reviewers have been experiencing. But it does appear to be decreasing at a rate that I think nevertheless makes this a very good value.
