5.0 out of 5 stars Poppy sounding throughout. December 16, 2010

OK, enough with only OPINIONS. Everybody has different tastes in music. Only a single review mentioned a punk feel to one of the tracks. I'll try to be short and objective. Har har.

Local Natives - Sun Hands : A bit poppy with an upbeat tempo. Electric guitars are not overbearing. Actual singing, too, with a clean voice. (in fact, all the tracks feature decent singing, except Equestrian, where some of it is slightly geared towards screaming vox)

Cut Off Our Hands - Turn Cold. More pop, upbeat tempo. Guitars more subdued and acoustic. Voice sounds a little strained, but seems to fit in with the overall music style.

The Dodos - Fables. Beatlesque in a few spots, actually, but not overly.

The Antlers - Bear. Music box (sound) opening... probably a setting on the piano. Strumming guitar, light drums. Weak voice. Can be a good thing or bad, depending on your taste.

Sean Bones - Dancehall. Little bit of a reggae beat to it, mixed with electric guitars and slightly strained vox.

The Antlers - Two. Quiet little tune. Vox are slightly lost in the mix. With an odd ending :)

Les Savy Fav - The Equestrian. I agree, punk feel to it. "Hardest" song on the album. The only one I may be inclined to skip.

The Dodos - Longform. Another low-key song. Just kind of meanders in parts.

If you are looking for rap, hiphop, soul, hard rock, classical, jazz, progressive rock, gospel, you may want to pass. This one seems to be geared more towards soft rock that's a bit on the poppy side. I really like this one, and am quite pleased that it was free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some Interesting Sounds March 2, 2010
By Cw
The standout track here is the punk infused "The Equestrian" by Les Savy Fav. The dodos "Fables" is quite good as well. For more free, legal downloads go to: [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Great freebie August 31, 2010
Great bands and you can't beat the price.
Especially love the Savy Fav, Cut Off Your Hands, Antlers, and Local Natives tracks. They're all great examples of these artists' excellent work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Grating March 9, 2010

It kept me in shape reaching for the next tune button.

The dodos have 2 songs that I listened to all the way to the end, all the rest were just too pathetic.
