FreQ Nasty is creative.......to say the least. Some of the songs on this LP are works of insane genius. "Incredible Acoustic Properties," is extremely well programmed breakbeat music. You'll also find hip-hoppy beats, with the support of a female MC with that little element of unh. (you know, that boomy sound) There are some jazzy breaks in there with an ethereal backdrop, and straight up filthy hard breaks. As the MC (this time male) says, "ready to take it down DARKside...check it oouuutt." can't ignore that

5.0 out of 5 stars Freq Nasty - Freq's Geeks & Mutilations, February 22, 2011
This review is from: Freq's, Geeks & Mutilations (Audio CD)
Some deep, phat and heavy breaks from Freq.Nasty -- just listening to them will make your mouth water. Simultaneously catchy and butt-rattling, these tracks will rattle your speakers and turn your brain to mush (in a good way). "Boomin' Back Atcha" goes straight into outer space and back with smooth delivery by Phoebe One; "Freq-a-Zoid" throws down some vocoder electro; and "Revolution Inc" works that funky bass. His instrumentals are just as good: "Mindsweeper" has some darkness coursing through it, while "Inner Minds Eye" has a mysterious vocal sample (from Attica Blues) floating beneath it. "I Was Made for Loving You" blends nu-soul and futuristic breaks into a delicious cocktail. Freq's Geeks & Mutilations is great album altogether.

This is not my normal genre of music but having heard this at a friend's place I realized this CD was an exception to the rule for me and I had to buy it for myself. I love it and I think that it has something for everyone, regardless of one's usual musical tastes. I mean, come on, it has a super sexy female vocalist covering a Kiss song. That's just weird cool!

If you like breaks, you'll love Freq Nasty. This disc is his first studio album and contains a mixture of flavors - Boomin' back atcha kicks da bass while Freqazoid throws some electro flava in da mix. You can't go wrong with Mr. Nasty. And if you don't believe me, just you wait - he's about to blow up. Also check out his mix album from Distinctive Records, Y4K. Word on the street is, Darrin is finishing up the vocal tracks for his next studio album due out in August.

One of the best albums of 1999. A mixture of big beat, drum and bass, dub, and hip hop, this album will get your booty shakin'. It's hard to compare it to other artists because he creates such a unique sound, albeit nothing quite breakthrough or fiercely original. This CD is a definitive must have for those who just like plain old good thumping music to drive home to or to shake your neck at.
