Outstanding; one of my favorites, May 9, 2009
This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Barcelona (Audio CD)
I love these songs. If you're into Thievery Corp, Gotan Project, Rodrigo&Gabriela (but with more electronic/bass element), and/or looking for really excellent and listenable and grooving juxtapositions with flamenco guitar, some sitar, and various other instruments, then I would highly recommend this 2disc collection. I can't believe the shallow negative reviews I'm reading here, dinging this collection for not having met some sort of exact expectations these listeners may have had, when they placed their orders. Open up and love it instead! Based on how much I like this collection, I'm looking to see what else in this "frequent flyer" series I can get into.

Pretty damn good!, May 12, 2007
This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Barcelona (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of the Frequent Flyer series, having purchased Kingston, Rio De Janeiro and Buenos Aires before. This one once again highlights an exotic city and selects tunes made in, or inspired by the loungy, electronica scene in Barcelona. The first disc is lighter in mood and sound while the second one is deeper and more intense. If you would like to hear a new twist on Flamenco, then pick this up!

..i hate to criticize music, but....., January 25, 2012
This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Barcelona (Audio CD)
...is this a bad CD? absolutely not. Was I disappointed? Yes. I heard Te Alejabs de Mi on Pandora and loved the song so much that I bought this album. I don't claim to be an expert on Spanish music or Barcelona (I've been once), but other than the song I mentioned, I didn't feel much Spanish influence here. I also wished there had been more vocals. Only one song that I remember has vocals. But even without that, this could have been a better album. I enjoy Thievery, Bent, Bliss, Kuba, The Verbrilli Sound, Kevin Yost, some Gotan Project, Esthero, but out of the 20 or so songs on the discs, I only found one that I really enjoy. The rest are just okay. Not bad by any means, but very neutral (in my opinion). These artists put together a good/decent album, but there wasn't anything that moved me. Maybe you will feel differently? Sorry to criticize someone's work of art.
