5.0 out of 5 stars Music on yor Computer
I had the same problem when I was using a Windows based program (i.e. WMP), but if you use i-tunes, the music will be transfered without any problems or any BS programs. If you have a MAC is even better, any CD that has any type of copyright will be transfered to your hard drive without any problems. My Recommendation to all the blog is to USE iTUNES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Musically sound, technically inept.
Suncomm Media Max anti piracy limits the usefullness of the CD. You cannot play it on a PC without installing their software. Ripping the CD tracks to your PC so you can load them onto your ipod, or other portable media device will not work since the tracks come out garbled.

As long as you are only planning on playing the CD in your car or home CD player...

As long as you are only planning on playing the CD in your car or home CD player you will be fine. For me, it is like purchasing a musical paperweight, since my Car, Home and portable MP3 players can't be used.

This goes for all of the Kinkysweet CD's. Bar Grooves, Frequent Flyer etc.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice music, shame about the piracy protection, March 25, 2006

It may be true that the music is outdated and unoriginal but for those who are uninitiated into the nu-bossa scene like myself then the CDs provide some pleasant enough tunes.

But the real bummer comes from the piracy protection. Impossible to play the CD on your PC without installing MediaMax's programme, and even then you can only listen when the CD is in the machine... so no copying to your computer, transfering to iPod or the likes. Surely with the rise of MP3, MediaMax will have to change this ridiculous anti-piracy protection else all their CDs will be relegated to dusty shelves and never heard.

4.0 out of 5 stars Frequent Groove ! ! !, May 12, 2009
This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Rio De Janeiro (Audio CD)
I got the Rio version of this copilation of CD's very groove B, I really like how some this artist not being from Brazil can create such cool felling that makes you feel like you are in this beatiful region of the world, now the first cd of this set is mellow kick back and chill my favorite track on this one will be "Under My Sensi" Boozoo Bajou [El Trio Electrico] extreme Relax mood if you are feeling like you need a break from it all this will be the track to listen to, the second cd is up beat one, on this one you can get ready to shake it, tracks mix in and the only thing you will need is a good dancer my favorite track on this one is "Palco" [Soulman & Ms Batucada Mix] the breaks on this track are just amaizing i love it every time i heard the break is coming i turn the volume all the way up no matter if the people next door complain [LOL].

Now some people have trouble rippping this copilation into their PC or their MP3 i wanna say i did have this problem, if you are trying to rip it with Windows Media Player you will never be able to do this, what you need to do is get one of your friends who has I tunes [Apple player] and this will do the trick.

I had absolutely no problem playing this on my Mac, nor uploading this or other Kinkysweet comps. onto my iPod. Yet another reason Macs are better. Oh, yeah. the music's pretty good too!

This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Rio De Janeiro (Audio CD)
Bought it expecting it to be as good as FS: Buenos Aires
Some good songs, not so great mixing

...AND if you want tu load it to your PC, just try different programs or a different computer. Had the same problem, and all I did was use another computer. Just have some patience!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't think so!, March 21, 2005

I have defend this CD, because I jam to it all the time. It's one of my favorites and I even use it for my dance company. The other reviews are too harsh and a major reason is due to compatibilty issues and disappointment. Don't hate! BUT...there were some good points made by bordersj2, but unless you are extremely knowledgable about brazilian music, it will NOT make a difference. I'll admit, I don't know the name of the songs or artists. I just play songs 1-8 because they are cool. I only listen to CD 2 because it's more upbeat. I don't have a problem playing it on my computer or elsewhere. It's a awesome starter CD if you are just getting into this. All I have to say, is listen to the samples provided-and you decide if you want to make the investment. If it sounds good, get it and you'll be happy. If it's not your style, check out the other CDs recommended by bordersj2. I am going to check them out, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars best cd I've heard in ages..., November 4, 2004
This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Rio De Janeiro (Audio CD)
Not quite sure what the other reviwer's problem is. This CD works fine on my computer and in my car. Yes the cd has some kind of "copy protection" on it but I'm not to fussed about that, what really counts is the music...this is by far the best CD I've heard in ages - kind of groovy, lounge on disc 1 but some sweet, sweet, sweet house on disc 2 that blew me away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Gargabe, Crap, Rubbish, Junk. And did I mention it's crap?, March 11, 2005
This review is from: Frequent Flyer: Rio De Janeiro (Audio CD)
I don't know what's funnier. 1: That I saw this in the music store yet consistently walked past it with the thought "how original. A bunch of nu-brazil songs from 1999-2001. What's the point?" 2: That I actually got it. Or 3: That the two songs on it I do enjoy I cannot even load onto my playlists. I was going to do a review on the music of this CD at which I gave it only 2 stars thanks to it's incredible un-originality. Yet when I put the cd into my computer adn this window popped up for some kind of BS program to play it... and then an inability to actually save the songs onto my PC, I realized that this cd was NOT worth the purchase. But first, the music.

It's unoriginal, outdated, and not even the best of the genre. CD 1 gives you a 'relaxed' vibe with Thievery Corporation, Nicola Conte, S-Tone Inc. and Mo Horizon's along with Rinocerose. Yes, surprise surprise, you've got "Bossa Per Due" which is perhaps THE most over-used lounge and nu-bossa track of all time. "Mes Vacances a Rio" was also wildly overplayed and Thievery Corporation's "Samba Tranquille" is a good song, but it's five years old now. Don't think that the other tracks I didn't mention pick up much... Los Ladrones "La Septima Ola" was popular back in 2001 and Boozoo Bajou's track is great on the 1998-1999 Bassic Instinct lounge series. CD2 is the club side with the nightlife. Get ready to take another trip back in time to 1999-2001 with the likes of "Sensacao" by Racoon and Coracao Tambor" by Ian Pooley. Gees... Ian Pooley put out a very good album in 2004 that they could've taken a track or two from.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS. It's garbage and there's better available. Like Brazilution 5.2 and 5, Nova Latino, Brazilectro, Break & Bossa to name but a few. And those series span to the time of the tracks on this one in older volumes... that are STILL better than this. Also, the best advice I can give you is to heed the warning of the other reviewers that mentioned that you cannot put the songs onto your PC. I tried it with a few programs and it came out jarbled too. Kinkysweet/seamless is saturating the market with these and their Bargrooves/Afterdark series. I can't wait for the next series... what'll it be? "Stripclub NYC"? But with this tune blockage that prohibits you from enjoying the cuts on your computer without using their crummy program that honestly sounds like a 1998 media player... Ministry of Sound just won back a customer. But for now I'm stuck with a crap cd series that won't get any rotation or have any value. But maybe these two discs will make classy lookin' coasters that me and my girlfriend can use while listening to music that's actually fresh.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad News, November 4, 2004

Unfortunately, this CD does not play, so I can't give it much of a review musically, only to warn people away who might expect CDs they buy to play.

The company made it not play on purpose. They put a thing on so that your computer won't play it, in the hopes that you won't be able to copy it. Sadly, that means you can't play it on your computer and that really limits my options.

They also put lots of errors in the tracks, which are supposed to be compensated for by the correction codes, but that unfortunately does not work on the CD changer in my car. So it doesn't play there either.

The only place it does play (out of 5 places I tried) is on the crappy boom box in the bathroom.

There are many fish in the ocean, and there are many CDs on the market. I suggest buying one that will not hassle you.
