The quest for the perfect tea ball is over!,
By
This review is from: Fresco Titanium Tea Ball (Kitchen)
When I make tea, I only make a single cup at a time. After trying pretty much every tea ball or similar product out there, the results were consistently poor. Either the mesh lining in the tea ball was too porous or the closing mechanism didn't seal, causing finely ground tea leaves and powder to leak out into the cup.
The Fresco tea ball is the only product I've found that has a fine enough mesh to keep all the tea leaves and powder in the tea ball itself. It has has a twist-on, twist-off seal that prevents it from coming open. It is easy to open if you take a moment to see how it works. This tea ball is pretty small, which means that one cup is about all it can handle (but that's what it is designed to do). If you want to brew a large pot of tea all at once, then you are looking for a different product. Fresco and a number of other manufacturers make larger sizes for you to consider. Yes, this tea ball costs more than others, but since it is likely to last forever and produce the kind of tea I'm hoping for, I think it's worth it.

Product described as "titanium" hypoallergenic etc. Product received is "stainless steel". This is a gross misrepresentation of a product. Shame on you Amazon!

STAINLESS STEEL - NOT TITANIUM,

NOTE; THIS ITEM IS STAINLESS STEEL, NOT TITANIUM.
That being said, it is an excellent infuser. The cap takes a little getting used to, but is not difficult to open/close. I was disappointed that the package clearly states Stainless Steel and not titanium. Perhaps there is a titanium version, but this is not it.

I decided to give the benefit of the doubt to Amazon on this one since the description and product title clearly indicate they are selling the titanium version. Additionally, the photo depicts a mesh that seems to be titanium colored.
Well, I was duped; This was a ten bucks regular stainless steel tea ball. It's nice and the holes are very thin, but definitely not worth the price if it its not titanium. I'll be returning this product ASAP. I wonder if this a manufacturer issue. Their site only shows a titanium version no stainless steel one: [...]. Either way, Amazon needs to change the product name and description.

This tea ball does a good job with loose tea. Especially if the tea is a smaller leaf. I use it every day to enjoy a cup of tea in the afternoon.

I adored this tea ball when I had it. It has since disappeared, but I plan to purchase another one. I've been without it for almost a year, and I've been pining for it and whining about it the whole time.
There is no problem at all with the lid for me - I simply look at the threads before I put it on, and it goes just fine. Gravity and centrifugal force help to expel the tea leaves into my trash can with a quick arm swing. After that it's just a rinse and it's done. It holds just enough tea to make one cup, so if you're looking for a larger batch this isn't for you. It does leave a small amount of sediment at the bottom of my cup, but a very negligible amount. I've never had a tea ball that left so little, actually. I adore this. I expected to have it for the rest of my life. I will buy another, and that one I will keep better track of, ensuring that I will indeed get to keep it for the rest of my life.

Terrible lid,

This is so hard to use, you will never want to drink tea. The lid does not screw on and is very hard to get it just right so that it will not open and ruin your tea. Also, the chain and all pressure of the pull on the chain is attached to the loose fitting lid. Do not expect your tea to stay in. It is just a very poor design all around.

Small & inconvenient,

I agree with the other review. The tea ball is too small but it is also very difficult to unscrew the top. Luckily when I tried to close it, I was over the sink so that most of the spilled tea went into the sink and not all over the floor. Really a poor design and a waste of money.
I'd return it but shipping would cost about the same as the tea ball did. The only good thing about it is the chain. I swapped it to use on my Swissgold® TF 200 Tea Ball that is a much better size, is easy to open but had a really cheap looking chain on it. |
