Loose Diamonds in the Rough,
By A Customer
This review is from: Fresco Fiasco (Audio CD)
Loose Diamonds was one of America's great lost bands. In a just world these guys would be famous but, alas, they are simpley another unknown band that made great music. Fortunately Troy Campbell is still putting out great records (if you can find them). This acoustic set is as good as their more rocking electric stuff. "Burnning Daylight", their first CD falls somewhere between Tom Petty and the Outlaws (with the addition of a couple of country ballads). All of their stuff is worth searching for.

Yet another superb album from the roots rock band from Austin. It's hard to believe the vocal qualities of Troy Campbell and guitar work of Jud Newcomb, combined with the lyrical and accomplished quality of the bands song writing have not drawn a wider acclaim in Europe. This album provides the listner with the recipie of country, blues and folk so easily blended in pervious Loose Diamonds' releases, yet adds the pure joy of musicianship and melodical quality that is realised in an acoustic format. From the opening country ballad 'I know you' to the final driving blues format of 'Stonewalls and Steelbars'every track is compulsive listening.
