HomeMade Baby Food,
By MomTo2 (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fresh Baby So Easy Baby Food and Breast Milk Trays (Baby Product)
These trays are nice, but the lids don't fit very snug. Once the food freezes though, I stick them in labeled Ziploc baggies. If you want snug lids, I recommend Tupperware brand ice cube trays. Also keep in mind that if you are making foods that don't freeze solid (like apricots and prunes), it is impossible to remove the food in these trays. For those foods, I recommend flexible trays and just carefully wrap plastic around it. Overall, great price though and it does work good enough for me. But because of the lids, I won't rate it higher.

I have 4 of these trays and have been using them for 3 months to freeze baby food. They are fantastic!
MEASURING- Each cube is 1T, which is great for measuring. For example, for lunch my baby gets 2 cubes of meat, 2 veggies, and 2 fruit. Some people complain that the cubes are too small, but if they were bigger they would take longer to defrost. I think the size is perfect. QUALITY- Some complain about warping or poor fit. I haven't had that problem at all and I use these a lot. I wash them by hand in hot soapy water. I couldn't fit them on the top rack in the dishwasher if I wanted to...all those darn baby feeding bowls and bottles! EASY- Put frozen cubes in labeled zipper freezer bags. If they don't want to come out of the tray, just turn the tray over and run some hot water over it for 10 seconds. I take what I need out of the freezer and put them in little bowls the night before and they're thawed for the next day. If I forget I just microwave for a minute. GOOD FOR BABY- I love the variety my baby gets. Many parents give just 1 or 2 different foods to baby at a meal so they don't open too many jars. With all choices I have in my freezer, my baby gets 4 different foods at each meal and I know exactly what she's eating. I don't have anything against jarred food, but I feel better (and thriftier) giving her homemade.

Ice Cube Tray with Lid,
By When I received these trays in the package of two, one was defective from the start. The lid would not seal onto the tray before freezing. The plastic on the lid was somehow defective and after trying for 30 minutes to get the lid to stay on the tray, I gave up and returned the product. If the the lid actually stayed on, and each cube compartment really held 30 ml (not 15ml), it might be a good product. I'd advise that you just buy a regular ice cube tray or a silicone one from Ikea and use that.

Okay,

The lids warp even if you hand wash and dry them. They do allow you to cover your home made food but sometimes the frostbite still seeps in after a week.

Product description lie,
By Melrose Mom (Melrose, MA USA) - See all my reviews

The product description claims that each cube in these trays holds one ounce of baby food or breast milk. That is simply not true. Each cube holds one half of an ounce (1 Tablespoon) not an ounce (2 Tablespoons).

On my planet, 1oz = 2Tblspn. The compartments of these trays holds 1Tblspn each; not 1oz as they say. You might be able to squeeze 1.5 Tblspn in the compartment with a firmer food that doesn't spill everywhere like a liquid. Other than that, I think these are great trays for what they are intended to do. I would not store the food in these trays. Rather, use them to freeze your food overnight, then transfer them to a larger container or freezer bag. This solves the "lid isn't tight enough" problem. Which, in my case, the lids snap on just fine for the 8 hours the food is in the tray. I'm still able to stack them, and that's what's important to me as I'm not storing in these trays.
In regards to one reviewer who mentioned the tray isn't flexible enough to get the food out: I leave mine to sit on the counter for all of 3-4 minutes before I am able to twist the tray whilst all the cute, little food cubes tumble out. The tray does have a little flexibility. Sure, this may be a glorified ice cube tray. But can you guarantee your $1 ice cube tray is phthalate and BPA free? And you're going to spend about the same $ to buy an ice cube tray with a lid. I gave this 4 stars only because I have to buy twice as many to get the advertised 12 servings per tray as I'm only able to get (6) 1oz serving per tray.

Sweet and sour,

I like the product...and there aren't many choices in the realm of baby food ice cube trays. But the lids! They don't stay on in the freezer and I have to put rubber bands around them.

Great Idea but needs improvement,
By momathome (Mountain View, CA United States) - See all my reviews 1. The ice cube tray has too little compartments. It's smaller than the average ice cube tray so I was disappointed that it didn't fit more food. 2. The ice cube tray has very, very little "give." This means that once the food is frozen, I have to wait until my husband gets home to try to get the food cubes out. I could do it with a lot of effort - letting it thaw a little bit (but don't want to risk it thawing out too much) and then working hard to get it out. It would have been better if the material was more like silicone, so that it can release the food easily.

I love these trays! They are the perfect serving size for my son, and of course they are BPA, PVC, and phthalate free which is very important to us. Some of the complaints mention that the lids get warped. Well, to easily solve this issue, just wash them in hot soapy water rather than putting them in the dishwasher, and voila! The lids fit perfectly. I plan on buying more.

works great for me,
I have been using these for several months and haven't had any trouble with the lids warping. I wash them on the top rack of the dishwasher and take the food out the day after I make it so I haven't had any frostbite issues. I like that the cubes are small because I like to mix up different varieties of food. Since they are small, I can just pop out a couple different cubes and mix them up.
