*** UPDATES: 14Jul2010, 12Apr2012 (an important one) - see below ***

This is the best pollen I have found in the USA, and it's typically the one i buy when there.

I have been eating bee pollen regularly for the past 20 years or so, in many countries around the world.

When visiting the USA the only pollen I buy is this one from Y.S. Organic Bee farms. Why? Because it is fresh and it is collected (by bees) from flowers that have not been sprayed with toxic chemicals, making it good for the bees and good for you.

The price of this product here on Amazon (currently under $14)** is the best I have seen. In the shops it usually retails for about $16 to $18.
(( **UPDATE: Jul 14 2010 - price is now at 17 dollars, plus about 5 dollars shipping, so it can vary a fair bit. Shop around if you want to pay less. I can usually get it in local organic co-ops and health stores for around $18 ))

If you can, I do highly recommend contacting a local organic honey producer and asking if they will sell you pollen. In my opinion it is always best/ideal to eat locally produced pollen for numerous reasons. BUT for many people this is not so easy to get, and Y.S. Organic Bee Farms pollen is therefore likely to be your best bet.

NEW TO POLLEN?
Pollen is one of the most ancient super foods. It contains pretty much every nutrient your body requires. It is powerful stuff. Really. Don't under estimate the gift you give your body by including good quality organic pollen in your diet. Over millions of year plants have had to compete by producing the most nutritionally complete pollen possible, because bees will go for the flowers with the best, and those plants are the ontes that will survive.

I read numerous reviews on this particular company about how they don't package the fresh pollen with cool-paks and once the item sits in the heat it becomes rancid. Well, we live in Tucson, AZ, and ordered this item in July, our hottest month. Yes, it was indeed left in the driveway all day long by UPS until we got home, and it did have a bit of a stale smell when we opened it. It's still palatable, but hey, for the price, this company really should consider the few cents they would invest to keep their precious product fresh. Otherwise they will end up with one time users and no repeat customers, and in this competitive day and age, that could kill a young mom and pop business. What's a little tiny investment in a cool-pak? Really? Word of mouth can make or break any business, and though this is a much wanted product, there are plenty of other companies offering the same product that will take the time to ensure it arrives fresh and cool. And I'm betting that they know this as too many of the reviews I read said they made contact with the company and were given the traditional "Send it back if you're not happy!" response. Really, folks, do you want to stay in business? Maybe you would be better off doing a day job instead, because customer service is what it's all about. I don't know if we will buy from this company again, even if it is made in the U.S. of A. To me quality and customer service says it all, and right now the quality is not up to par if the product is being baked all day long in my driveway.

This is the first time I've ever purchased bee pollen -- I'm experimenting with raw nutrition and superfoods and all that jazz, and in this case I opted for the best of the best.

(Must admit I'm grappling with the idea that I 'need' pollen and ground up powders and expensive dried berries from a thousand miles away for good health, or that these things are somehow more nutritious than simple, fresh, organic produce, or even a simple whole-food vegan diet that includes cooked foods. Whatever ends up working or not working, I guess it's a learning process either way. :)

I find this product to be quite good based on its own merits though (not based on any purported super/magical health-giving properties.) It was shipped in a perfectly reasonable time-frame, well-packaged, and the pollen is fresh, light, springy, with no unusual or unpleasant flavor or texture.

If you're look for good quality pollen for whatever reason, then this is recommended!

I had read about bee pollen online. I researched different products and decided to try this bee pollen. I have found I feel better, have more energy and generally like this product.
I take about 1 T daily in my morning power drink. It has an ok taste and helps me to jump start my day. All positive.

I can't compare this to other bee pollen products, but the energy and mental boost is noticeable quickly when eating the product alone, and tastes pretty good.

This is a TEMPERATURE SENSITIVE ITEM, it clearly states on the bottle "KEEP REFRIGERATED". Item is being shipped without cold pack - that is a serious problem - and manufacturer claims they instruct retailers to ship item cold but this one clearly chooses to ignore that, so what you are receiving is a perished product - DO NOT CONSUME.

This is the way to go when taking bee pollen. YS organic bee Farms is a company I trust. Do not buy capsules from this brand. Do buy the products like this in their whole, natural form. These don't taste fabulous, but they are not terrible. I know people that put a Tbsp. on their morning oatmeal or cereal. I've tried it and can't stomach it.

I place a Tbsp. in 1/4 to 1/2 cup water, stir, and swallow down in 1-2 gulps. It's not bad that way if you can do it. I sometimes use orange juice instead and that's much easier to get down. I know this is super good for you and it's a safe way of getting your vitamins. Without all those fillers and harmful stearates vitamin companies use.
