The lack of knowledge about such a talented artist "I can't Explain".The king of the drum machine [before Mantronix].Def Jam O.G.F-f-f-fresh!Can I ride with you Davey,Davey please? Can I ride with you Davey?Anybody who calls themselves down with the culture of Hip-Hop should listen to "Davey's Ride"'which was released in 1987 on Def Jam/Columbia.This album,I believe, shows you exactly how versatile an artist he truly is.

Not rubbish but awful recording masters thanks to Tuff City,

Yeah y'all "One For The Treble (Fresh)" and "The DMX Will Rock" series are the only joints on this greatest hits CD by the man DAVY DMX. He sings,he plays bass,he's a super dope DJ. Tuff City Records messes this CD up with awful recorded masters (just like on the ULTRAMAGNETIC MC'S bootlegs. I-ight,CED-GEE was responsible for that, who or whom is responsible for this?).
In my high school days,I was on the radio as a DJ and I wore out "One For The Treble (Fresh)". I had it on 12" single,it was one of the most requested hip-hop songs on my show. Don't forget DAVY DMX produced and played some instruments for KURTIS BLOW before going solo (see "8 Million Stories",etc). I'm not knocking DAVY DMX at all,but this should have been a 5 song EP. I'm not knocking Tuff City either,it's just that they were a great indie record label (in the 80's) gone to...stink! Anyways, old school rule dawg! Don't you new aged rappers and DJ's forget it!!!!

sound quality clarification,

some have complained about sound quality. i am not a trained ear but it is easy to hear that the last two tracks and only those two sound awful - demo-quality or worse. all the rest, where the good stuff is anyway, are fine.

I specifically bought this CD for "One for the Treble", so it was worth it. There are some other good songs on the CD but the quality is bad.

IT PISSES ME OFF WHEN I READ TWO REVIEWS FROM PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT THE RAP GAME. DMX (DARK MAN X) AND DAVY DMX ARE TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE TOTALLY,TWO DIFFERENT GENERATIONS OF RAP. DAVY DMX IS THE "ONE FOR THE TREBLE (FRESH)" GUY WITH THE FUNKY BASS LINES AND PUNCH-IN-YO-FACE-BEATS BY THIS DRUM MACHINE WITH THE SAME NAME (DMX). DAVY DMX WAS ALSO A ONE TIME DJ FOR THE THEN KING OF RAP,KURTIS BLOW. DAVY DMX IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CO-PRODUCING RUN-DMC TIGHT "TOUGHER THAN LEATHER" LP. DAVY DMX IS ALSO THE ONE WHO BROUGHT YOU "DAVY'S RIDE",A DEF JAM LP HE RECORDED UNDER THE NAME DAVY D WITH BEASTIE BOYS DJ,HURRICANE (WHICH SHOULDN'T BE OUT OF PRINT). TO KNOW DAVY DMX,"F-F-F-FRESH" IS THE WAY TO GO,HIS CLASSICS RAVES,THE UNRELEASED TRACKS ARE CORNY FILL IN'S OF AMATEUR RECORDINGS. REGARDLESS,BEFORE ALL THE DMX HYPE OF TODAY,THEN ONE DMX STOOD ALONE. "HAVE YOU SEEN DAVY?"YOU SHOULD.

Rubbish album with a few good tracks,

Thanks to "bille-kathy" for setting this straight. Davy DMX aka DJ Davey D has NOTHING to do with DMX the rapper. Howeveer, this album is rather corny. I count 3 good tracks on it: "The DMX Will rock (scratch mix)" and "Davy's Scratch", and of course "One for the Treble" which is a classic and the only real reason for buying this album.
