4.0 out of 5 stars Great album to make you feel good, October 23, 2003
By eric_f (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
I was in my Junior year at college when Gina G.'s "Fresh" album was released and the single "Ooh aah...Just A Little Bit" began getting radio airplay and became a hit. I remember instantly liking it for its catchy groove and great melody. There are many songs that bring back good memories of my college days, and "Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit" is definitely on that list.

As for the "Fresh" album itself, I would rate it a solid 4 out of 5. Several of the songs including "Rhythm Of My Life" and "I Belong To You" are just as catchy as "Ooh aah...Just A Little Bit" and have that same energy to get you going. There are also slower-tempo ballads like "Ti Amo" which are also effective. But I found the last song, a different version of "Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit" to be completely pointless and even tedious to listen to. It repeats itself with the same monotonous structure over and over again, practically throughout the whole song. And being the longest song at almost 7 minutes doesn't help matters. It's a far cry from the original version. Swapping it for a couple of other songs would have been a much wiser move.

The other minor complaint I have with "Fresh" is with the production. It doesn't have that spacial, dynamic, crystal-clear sound that other dance albums have (to get an idea of what I mean listen to La Bouche's "Sweet Dreams" and hear how the vocals and music jump out at you and pull you in). Unfortunately "Fresh" suffers from less-than-ideal production, making the songs sound a little "muddy" and thin. This isn't to say that the production is horrible. But for a dance album to achieve its full effect the production must be polished.

But flaws put aside, "Fresh" is a great album to make you feel good and put you in a good mood. So the lyrics might be a little cliched...dance music isn't exactly known for deep, profound lyrics anyway. So put "Fresh" in the CD player and get the vibe!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gina G-Fresh!, February 23, 2004
I bought this in 1997 and i liked it at first. There are like 2 or 3 songs that i don't like and the remix one is awful, they would put another new song instead of that remix.
1.-Ooh ahh...Just A Little Bit-9/10-LOVED IT!!its just sooo catchy,even tough i've listened to it like 60 times,i'm still lovin'it.Great Single
2.-Fresh!-8/10 Her third single. It was number 6 in the UK Charts and USA charts. Its a summer song, very "fresh" and with good vocals. It's not as catchy as "Ooh Ahh" but is a good single
3.-Ti Amo-7/10 An Ok Song.Is Not Of My Favourites but its ok
4.-Every Time I Fall-6/10 I usually skip this song,is a ballad and it's just ok
5.-Follow The Light-6/10 Not my favourite,I don't like the lyrics but its Ok
6.-Gimme some love-7/10 Another hit material, very catchy and danceable,it was single but i don''t know if it charted
7.-Rhythm Of My Life-9/10-A party song very catchy and this would have been an amazing single.Listen to this
8.-Missin'You Like Crazy-8/10 Awesome ballad with good lyrics and vocals
9.-I Belong To You-9/10 Her second single also number 6 in Uk And Usa charts. Its amazing very dance and catchy
10.-Higher Than Love-5/10 I Skip this song is Ok,not bad
11.-It Doesn't Mean Goodbye-6/10 Another Ballad is worst that MYLC,its boring, but not bad
12.-Ohh Ahh...Remix-2/10 Hated it,you wouldn't listen to the 7 minute long remix

5.0 out of 5 stars GINA G RULES!!!!, June 4, 2002
By A Customer
I FIRST BECAME A FAN OF GINA G WHEN I HEARD HER EUROVISION SONG CONTEST HIT 'JUST A LITTLE BIT'. I THOUGHT SHE WAS A 'ONE HIT WONDER' BUT I WAS DELIGHTED WHEN I FOUND OUT SHE BROUGHT OUT AN ALBUM WHICH I KNEW WOULD HAVE AT LEAST A FEW SONGS IN THAT SAME CATCHY, WHIGFIELD/ EURO-POP STYLE. AND I WASN'T DISAPPOINTED! THANK TO AMAZON I NOW LISTEN TO GINA DAY & NIGHT FOR A FEEL GOOD BUZZ THAT NO DRUG COULD EVER PRODUCE!
