4.0 out of 5 stars Great album to make you feel good
I was in my Junior year at college when Gina G.'s "Fresh" album was released and the single "Ooh aah...Just A Little Bit" began getting radio airplay and became a hit. I remember instantly liking it for its catchy groove and great melody. There are many songs that bring back good memories of my college days, and "Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Chart-friendly Club music
Gina G was the 1996 UK hopeful for the Eurovision song contest, and although she did not win, the single "Ooh Ahh Just a Little Bit" was a huge hit in the charts, as were its follow ups. Rather surprisingly for Eurovision, the song had a definite club/dance feel, and mixes by Steve Rodway from Motiv8, which gave her a bit of much-needed credibility. All the...

I was in my Junior year at college when Gina G.'s "Fresh" album was released and the single "Ooh aah...Just A Little Bit" began getting radio airplay and became a hit. I remember instantly liking it for its catchy groove and great melody. There are many songs that bring back good memories of my college days, and "Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit" is definitely on that list.

As for the "Fresh" album itself, I would rate it a solid 4 out of 5. Several of the songs including "Rhythm Of My Life" and "I Belong To You" are just as catchy as "Ooh aah...Just A Little Bit" and have that same energy to get you going. There are also slower-tempo ballads like "Ti Amo" which are also effective. But I found the last song, a different version of "Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit" to be completely pointless and even tedious to listen to. It repeats itself with the same monotonous structure over and over again, practically throughout the whole song. And being the longest song at almost 7 minutes doesn't help matters. It's a far cry from the original version. Swapping it for a couple of other songs would have been a much wiser move.

The other minor complaint I have with "Fresh" is with the production. It doesn't have that spacial, dynamic, crystal-clear sound that other dance albums have (to get an idea of what I mean listen to La Bouche's "Sweet Dreams" and hear how the vocals and music jump out at you and pull you in). Unfortunately "Fresh" suffers from less-than-ideal production, making the songs sound a little "muddy" and thin. This isn't to say that the production is horrible. But for a dance album to achieve its full effect the production must be polished.

But flaws put aside, "Fresh" is a great album to make you feel good and put you in a good mood. So the lyrics might be a little cliched...dance music isn't exactly known for deep, profound lyrics anyway. So put "Fresh" in the CD player and get the vibe!

This review is from: Fresh (Audio CD)
I bought this in 1997 and i liked it at first. There are like 2 or 3 songs that i don't like and the remix one is awful, they would put another new song instead of that remix.

2.-Fresh!-8/10 Her third single. It was number 6 in the UK Charts and USA charts. Its a summer song, very "fresh" and with good vocals. It's not as catchy as "Ooh Ahh" but is a good single

4.-Every Time I Fall-6/10 I usually skip this song,is a ballad and it's just ok

6.-Gimme some love-7/10 Another hit material, very catchy and danceable,it was single but i don''t know if it charted
7.-Rhythm Of My Life-9/10-A party song very catchy and this would have been an amazing single.Listen to this

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for dance freaks., October 10, 1999
This review is from: Fresh (Audio CD)
Are you a dance freak? I am, and I LOVE this CD. Don't be put off by her video clip or cheesy image, the music itself is so catchy and addictive. If you like dancing to happy music, this is perfect for you. Every song is really good and you'll find yourself listening to it over and over and over......

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't regret buying this CD!, August 9, 1999

OK, so you might know Gina G from when she burst into the charts with her massive hit "Ooh Aah...Just A Little Bit". If you liked that you'll love the album. You've got really good pop songs like "Fresh" and "I Belong To You" plus dance/club songs such as "Gimme Some Love" and "Follow The Light", and even some Madonna esque ballads like "Ti Amo" and "It Doesn't Mean Good-Bye". And to top it all off you've got a really cool remix of "Just A Little Bit" at the end. What more could you want? You would be mad not to buy this. I can't wait for her next album, cause she's been gone for quite a while now.

Gina G is a great female Australian Singer!! Her song "Ohh Ahh Just a little bit" was a success as well as "Fresh".. But here in Mauritius her song "Ti Amo" smashed all the records ever...This is the best song i've ever heard...I prefer the long version than the short...

5.0 out of 5 stars She's a Madonna in the making; catch this album now!, November 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Fresh (Audio CD)
I happen to like poppy, happy music, so I'm a little biased. Still, this album offers more than your standard dance/club songs. There's some slow material, too, but it avoids being boring filler because of the excellent hooks. Her one big hit, "Ooh, Ahh, Just A Little Bit," is probably the best song on the album, but there are several that sound like it, so you won't be disappointed. Plus, it's a great album to exercise to. At this price, how can you NOT buy it?????

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent if you like bubble-gum beats, August 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Fresh (Audio CD)
All in all, it's a pretty good album. Gina G's attempts at slow songs aren't bad, and the remix of "Ooh, Aah! Just A Little Bit" was better than the original version. "It Doesn't Mean Goodbye" is probably the best song, mixing a often-used dance beat with a good saxophone at the end. I would still stay away from it if you don't like happy, bubble-gum type dance music.

I FIRST BECAME A FAN OF GINA G WHEN I HEARD HER EUROVISION SONG CONTEST HIT 'JUST A LITTLE BIT'. I THOUGHT SHE WAS A 'ONE HIT WONDER' BUT I WAS DELIGHTED WHEN I FOUND OUT SHE BROUGHT OUT AN ALBUM WHICH I KNEW WOULD HAVE AT LEAST A FEW SONGS IN THAT SAME CATCHY, WHIGFIELD/ EURO-POP STYLE. AND I WASN'T DISAPPOINTED! THANK TO AMAZON I NOW LISTEN TO GINA DAY & NIGHT FOR A FEEL GOOD BUZZ THAT NO DRUG COULD EVER PRODUCE!
