Book Description

Lucy and Claire were once best friends but after a row, they haven't spoken in ten years. Imagine their shock when they are thrown together, not only in the same ski resort in the French Alps but in the same chalet. Then they are snowed in, together with two attractive men and a couple with relationship issues, which puts both their friendship and their survival skills to the test.

A new, corrected version was uploaded on February 7, 2012.

NOTE TO AMERICAN READERS: This book has British spelling and grammar as is written and spoken in Europe, Ireland included, which might look like spelling errors. Example: Cosy (British) spelling, cozy (American spelling), realise (British spelling), realize (American spelling) and so on. The heroines are Irish and it would seem strange if they spoke American English.

Editorial Reviews

Review

'The short, snappy dialogue moves along at speed, keeping the storyline twisting and turning nicely. This 'Sex Lite' skiing romp is no Jackie Collins, more of an Agatha Christie-meets-Mills&Boon on a James Bond set.' - Irish Independent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh and Fun August 20, 2011
Format:Paperback
This is an enjoyable romantic comedy about two Irish girls who fell out when they lived together in Ireland, and who meet again years later, many miles away, in unusual circumstances. Their fortunes have changed and they are both now facing new challenges. Will they turn on each other again or will they help each other? And will either of them ever find the right man and fall in love?

The cast of supporting characters in the story are well-developed, and they and the two main characters, Lucy and Claire, have just the right combination of real-life flaws and charm to keep the reader hoping that things will turn out well for all of them as events unfold in the French alps.

The warmth, humour and insight in Fresh Powder make this book an enjoyable, memorable read. Recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh Powder March 1, 2012

FRESH POWDER is a good read. The story is interestering in its development. Although the ending is predictable, I enjoyed the characters, the setting, and the fact that it is a good "beach" read without what I consider trashiness and being vulgur.

2.0 out of 5 stars Seven main characters, one who was likable January 31, 2012
By Jenn C
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've never written a review before, but this book prompted me to it. Almost every character seems nasty and snippy, including six year old Emilie. Al is the only exception, and he gets painfully short shrift. Even the epilogue indicates that "happily ever after" includes domineering husbands and fights over nothing. In a sense, the book reminded me of the movie Closer. The technical elements were all fine, but you can't invest in characters when you dislike every single one of them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay
Not really well joined. It was not terribly interesting perhaps due to all of the characters, save one, being one dimentional. If you've nothing else to do, try it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fresh Powder - Really?
It is a habit of mine to read books to the end, regardless of how poorly it is written or how inane the subject matter. That said, this is one of the worst books I have ever read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much...
I didn't enjoy this book. I read it all of the way through and it ended worse than it began.

There were too many "main characters" to begin with. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Original and funny!
I had no idea a "huis clos" could be so funny! The tempo was perfect, with just enough of the reader's time spent getting to know Claire and Lucy and how their paths diverged,... Read more

This book has the potential to be good. I think the plot is good, but certain things don't quite sit the right way. The ending was extremely abrupt. Read more
