Fill your clean litter box with 3-4 inches of litter. For best results, do not mix with non-clumping cat litter. The litter quicly forms a clump around liquid waste. Remove clumps and solids daily and dispose in trash. Do not flush. The rest of the litter stays fresh. Add more litter to refresh your litter box each time you schoop. Maintain level of litter at 3-4 inches. Once a month empty entire litter box. Dispose of contents in the trash.

This is great cat litter. Amazon shipped it fast and free (with Prime). This is great for me because this stuff is heavy and in NYC, you definitely don't want to have to either lug a 20lb box of cat litter home or 2) buy smaller boxes that are double the price.

My husband and I thought we'd try going "green" with our litter and after trying natural, flushable, non-clumping litters, we finally got fed up! They got stuck in our cat's fur, didn't fight the odor, and didn't absorb urine as we'd hoped. Fresh Step is still the best at clumping, trapping odor, and minimizing the amount of litter tracked all over our house. In the end, we went back to Fresh Step and decided to be more environmentally conscious by paying more attention to how much we use in the litter box. Even over other brands of clay litters I prefer this one.

I really tried putting off getting any cats right now b/c I loathe litter box duty. But my six-year-old put on the charm and convinced me to get a kitten last week... Before we even looked for the kitty, I was shopping for the right litter box and litter!
I have to say that so far, this has really impressed me. We have an enclosed litter box, so that helps...but honestly, I have not noticed one single odor problem since we finally convinced Miss Sookie to actually USE the box!! Hahaha... Seriously, the litter itself smells great, and then it seems to totally neutralize the odors right away. We might smell it as soon as she does it, but the smell is gone in no time. We changed the litter out yesterday because I had only put a small amount in the box and I wanted to start fresh before I put the right amount in. It didn't "need" to be changed yet... We'll see how it goes, but I think this is a winner... :-)
