Absolutely wonderful if you actually try it!,
By penandink (Boston, MA USA) - See all my reviews Finally, I'd point out that it sounds like the previous reviewer has not actually tried this product: "Granted, I'm sure the balm is fragrant and tastes lovely..." Why give a negative review based on price alone when you haven't tried the product? If the previous reviewer had tried this product, then she would have known that with Fresh, you get what you pay for-- very high quality products.

Saved my lips!,

This has to be by far one of the best lip treatments on the market. Pricy...yes. But well worth every cent. In as few as two uses my lips have gone from cracked to whole. Tastes as good as it smells. Lemon...brownsugar..like the body scrub of the same name.
My only complaint: it doesn't have the longevity of say Prada's lip balm (which I use when running).

Fresh Sugar lip balm,

Fresh makes great, products and this is one of my favorites.
The lip balm is very moisturizing, has an AMAZING scent and does more than just moisturize your lips and make them smell tasty...it gives them a very healthy, plumpled look that I've never been able to get with any other lip balm. The downside of this product is that it needs to be re-applied often and that there isn't alot in the tube so if you're a lip balm addict like me, you could end up needing to re purchase every month.

Lovely lemon scent, with none of the sting,
I bought this during one of my Sephora 'shopping sprees'. I usually spend upards of $200 when I go to one, as there are none around my are. Since I would have used the 22.50 this lip balm cost on something else anyway, I put it twords this lip 'treatment', since I fell in loe with it the second I smelled it. I dared not test the one at the store (I'm somewhat of a germaphobe, especially when it comes to testing cosmetics.) I opened it as soon as I got out of the store, and I lived it from that second on.
First- it lasts much longer than normal 'waxy' lip balms (chapstick, blistex, ect). I only need to apply it once in the morning, and my lips won't bug me for the rest of the day (I love my carmex, and it can't get close to doing that). It feels so silky smooth, and makes lip makeup (lipstick, liner, gloss) apply so much better, and look great (no wrinkled/dry lips here) Second- you should buy it... most of the more expensive makeup stores have some sort of satisfaction guarentee, and have testers you can use before buying, so why not go for it? Even if you buy online, sight unseen, you'll love it too, as long as you like the scent of lemons (or can deal with it for a great lip product). The scent really is delicious! One last note, I love the packaging, its cute and metal with a screw on cap, and doesn't get damaged when dropped, or packed into a heavy bag.

Tastes good but doesn't last,

If you like the citrusy scent of other Fresh products (as I do) then you will probably really like this lip balm. It has a lovely lemony taste, and a soft, smooth texture. It's not waxy or greasy, and my husband likes to kiss me when I have it on! The only reason that I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because it doesn't last as long as I'd like. My lips tend to get pretty chapped in the winter, and I put balm on at night to condition my lips. This one is gone after about 30 minutes to an hour, so I need a much more concentrated lip balm (like Bliss balm) for night use. But if you're looking for a light, yummy balm, this might be it.

Although this lip treatment costs a fair amount as far as lip balm goes, I don't know how my lips would live without it! It smells like lemon cookies and has a velvety finish... and it has SPF 15, too. The ceramic tube is easy to find in your purse and doesn't break easily. After using this lip balm for a week, my lips were already less chapped. I reccomend this lip treatment for everyone.

Just ok,

I really wanted to love this product, but I am finding myself a little dissapointed. It has a nice color but it wears off very quickly. And I really am not impressed with the "moisturizing & softening" properties. I have dry lips and I am obsessed keeping them soft, but I've gotten better results from my $3-$5 drugstore brands like Alba, Burts bees or even Chap stick. Again, not terrible, but just ok. I will use it because I bought it, but I don't think it will ever become one of my stand-by products. For a similar look but more lasting color I prefer Clinique Black Honey almost lipstick - and it's only $14.50. I think that is even more moisturizing than this. This is nice but not great. Just ok. Definately not worth $22.50.

Good but that doesnt justify the inflated price. I finally found a substitue: $3 Alba lip balm and I m very happy with it,

I used Sugar lip balm for months, and it was the best I could find for my lips (I actually used to use rose - the pink one)...it is great, and was the first lip balm ever not have caused my lips to chap further after its gone. I put up with the $22 price tag. on top of that it doesnt last since its very creamy. for my it used to last a month or so. A friend told me about Alba ($3 or so) and I was skeptical since I ve been disappointed with the cheaper ones. however, to my amazement, I was so pleased that I decided to post reviews to help others - who are just like me desperately looking for the best value lip balm.
quite frankly, I would rate this a 5 star if it weren't for the price. a total rip off. especially for the colorless sugar lip balm. the rose has a beautiful sheen and natural color that that Alba doesnt have. however, I can use it sparingly and not a pay a $22 monthly "tax" as before. |
