Scholars here employ the latest tools of historical analysis, literary criticism, and feminist inquiry to reveal why verterans of her military campaigns found her to have been a remarkable comander and why so many of her contemporaries and near-contemporaries, churchman and poets alike, found it possible to accept the validity of her mission and her voices.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment, November 9, 1999

This review is from: Fresh Verdicts on Joan of Arc (New Middle Ages) (Hardcover)
I had respect for Prof. Wheeler, and so this book came as a tremendous disappointment. It does little but trot out all the latest fringe 'theories' about a woman who has already been the subject of numerous myths and dubious theories already.
