4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction, February 19, 2008

Decided to learn new a sport at age 36. Bought this DVD on-line, spent money on a full set of snowboard gear at local sports store, and went snowboarding. I also paid 3 hours of 1 to 1 instructor. While this DVD can't beat a live personal instructor, it allows your skill to progress when not physically snowboarding. The video will help you to get off the lift chair the correct way. It will also show you how to ride either goofy or regular. This DVD gave me an edge over other first time snowboarders. It also helped me to progress from novice to intermediate in snowboarding. Bottom line: Watch this DVD, then get a personal instructor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nicely explained, April 22, 2007

I bought this together with the Boarding Skool DVD. After seeing them both, I like this one a lot more.

The author gives clear but lengthly explanation of each technique before he demonstrates it with both right foot and left foot stance. Altho the explanation is a little too long for my liking, it does contain lots of very helpful tips for beginners like myself. The demonstration are also excellent examples and very good reference.

3.0 out of 5 stars Snowboard Beginner, December 15, 2008
This review is from: Fresh start snowboarding (DVD)
This video was the best beginning video about snowboarding available. Lots of practice skill sets were provided that I was able to apply on the slopes each time I went. The speaker was a very slow talker with a few silly catch phrases, but the message delivered was valuable to my advancement in snowboard as a beginner. I have slowly applied each skill to both my left leg leading and right leg leading. Learning and developing the muscle memory to make each move is essential for a beginner. Try not to get frustrated and give up, keep at it and put what you learn from the video and from actual practice together and each day at the slope will be a great one.
