2.0 out of 5 stars Stale tea
Although this tea is shown to be best by 13/10/11, it was prepared on 14/7/2010, which was over a year ago. I can see now why it was only $11 for 160 tea bags. The flavor of the tea seems dull compared to other Rooibos teas I have tried. I suspect it's stale. Buyer beware.

Having lived there for a number of years and traveling there frequently, I always try to bring back a couple of boxes of this. If you haven't tried Rooibos tea, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. It is a robust tea with no caffeine. Most people drink it hot with a little sweetner and maybe a little lemon, but it also makes a great iced tea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great South African tea, August 21, 2006

I was brought up drinking this caffeine free tea at home in South Africa and now my sons enjoys it so much that I'm considering buying in bulk. He drinks it with soy milk and a little honey, and can't seem to get enough of it.
I'm just glad I'm able to get it here in the US now.
Buying it like this is also a much better deal than in some stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Herbal Deliciousness!, April 24, 2009

This review is from: Freshpak Rooibos Tea 80 Tagless Bags (2 X Pack) (Misc.)
In the '70s there was an herbal tea that I really loved from South Africa, but then came the boycott of South African goods and I could never again find it. Recently I did some research and found that the tea was once again available (though not by the brand name I knew) by the actual name of the tea "Rooibos".

So I made an order through Amazon... and although the shipping price is a bit high for something so light in weight, I can't complain because the tea is even better than I remember it. For those who aren't familiar with Rooibos Tea, it is very similar to good Black tea in flavor, minus the bitter after taste and minus the caffeine and tannic acid, but with the anti-oxidants and other GOOD stuff. Refreshing and delicious stuff!

The description says 80 teabags (2 X Pack) so I was not sure if this was 2 X 40 or 2 X 80, turns out it's the latter. Thanks!

I got spoiled for this brand from friends from South Africa. Most US blends don't taste the same.

Just what I needed. I feel a lot better if I can have a cup of black rooibos in the morning.

I cannot do caffeine and this tea is great. It has a thick taste unlike herbal teas and is very satisfying!

After reading several books in the No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, where they drink many cups of red bush tea each day, I had to try it for myself. I should add that I'm English and black tea with milk is one of my daily necessities. I drink my Rooibos tea the same way. I found the smell a little odd at first - reminiscent of antiseptic (some say vanilla) and wet straw - but I liked the taste immediately. Rooibos tea has all the robust attributes of black tea but without the caffeine, and it is supposed to be very healthy. It's also refreshing. If you like black tea, give it a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rooibos is my choice for iced tea, May 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Freshpak Rooibos Tea 80 Tagless Bags (2 X Pack) (Misc.)
I'm an iced tea drinker year round, and I go thru tons of the stuff during hot weather. Rooibos is naturally decaf and has a mild unobtrusive taste. I find my palate doesn't get tired of the stuff, which is key during those high volume hot days.

I've tried a number of brands of Rooibos and Freshpak wins hands down. Don't even bother with other brands.

My iced tea recipe:

Boil water for 6 liters of final product with 8 Rooibos tea bags. During this process I add 1/3 cup Splenda and 1/3 cup real sugar. After it reaches a boil, I shut it off and let it cool down (tea bags still in the liquid). After it's cool I add the juice of one healthy lemon. Pour the contents into 6 plastic liter bottles (used seltzer water bottles in my case) and stick them in the reefer.
