This Freshware candy mold is heat-resistant, flexible, non-stick, is safe to clean in the dishwasher, and can be rolled for storage.

Awesome product!
Hello everyone. I recently learned to make chocolate and wanted to take it to the next level and try some silicone molds (prior to the molds I was making free form candy clusters on wax paper). Perhaps many of you are finding that after reading the reviews for various mold brands, you are still not sure which one(s) to go with. That is how I felt a couple weeks ago, so I decided to see for myself and bought 3 different brand molds. The following is what I purchased: Silikomart Silicone Easy Chocolate Mold (assorted Dinosaurs - 15 piece per mold), Fat Daddio's Interlocking Square Silicone Chocolate Mold (15 piece per mold), and Freshware 30 Cavity Silicone Chocolate Jelly and Candy Mold. Along with the molds, I also purchased the Wilton Easy Pour Funnel. In case it matters, I prepare my chocolate using cacoa butter, cacao paste, sea salt, honey and ground vanilla. All ingredients are warmed in my dehydrator at a temperature of 105 until melted (the honey is already melted of course, but I put in in there anyway so it is warm). Here is what I discovered when I made my chocolates yesterday. All three molds released the chocolates easily, all three molds had about the same size candies (can be eaten in one or two bites - I think this is just the right size) and all three produced beautiful shiny pieces of chocolate (they all had the same amount of shine). Clean-up is a cinch on all three of them; however, it is easier to clean the brown chocolate off the red 30 cavity Freshware mold. Several reviews have noted that the forms are so flexible you have to transfer them to the refrigerator on a hard surface or all your chocolate will run out.

This Freshware 30-Cavity Silicone Chocolate, Candy and Peanut Butter-Cup Mold is just one of several silicone candy and baking molds I've acquired recently and I have to tell you, Grandma is impressed!

Most of the time I have a great deal of will power when it comes to candy, but Peanut Butter Cups are my downfall, the white chocolate covered ones even more so. Sadly, they have become SO expensive that I usually don't even bother to look. I think that is about to change!

The White Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups my daughter and I made are luscious - and I'm being much better about the tin full of them sitting in my fridge than I thought that I would be. Like all of the Freshware molds, this one can be put into the dishwasher, but clean-up was so easy there was hardly a need even for a sponge. And like all Freshware molds, this one is oven safe (though the cups are really much too small to bake in successfully) and comes with an Owner's Manual (when was the last time you got an owner's manual with your bakeware?!) that answers common questions, and details both their one year Warranty as well as Freshware's Satisfaction Guarantee.

Grandma couldn't be happier! Highly Recommended!

It would be unfair to compare these silicone molds to traditional plastic ones that crack easily, or to metal one that make it nearly impossible to remove the candies without breaking or tearing. It may leave the other ones feeling inferior. But that would be accurate. If you've used those kinds in the past, you would soon see that the silicon do not break or crack like the thin plastic molds tend to do. They can go easily into the fridge or freezer for fast setting and you don't have to force the candies from the molds as you do with metal ones. I've had no problems with desserts sticking unless I didn't press or pour firmly and they had air pockets that allowed breakage, but that cannot be blamed on the mold.

I don't make a lot of candy, but I do make a great deal of energy balls, no bake cookies, raw desserts, vegan "cheese"cakes based on nuts, nut butters, tofu and other such ingredients. To keep it interesting to my family (especially the kids) I like to vary the shapes and sized of the desserts to give them more appeal. It may sound silly, but when the packaging gurus of the world are investing thousands of dollars to make their unhealthy product more marketable, it stiffens the competition a bit for the healthy home cook to keep kids interested in healthy, nutritious treats.

The molds DO have a strong chemical odor when you first open them. One reviewer in the single star category refused to use the molds because of the smell and that is transferred taste to her product. I agree on the chemical smell, but if you order ahead of time and wait a couple of weeks, the smell eventually disappears. I had 3 different molds all from this company and that was definitely the case.
