Book Description

October 1, 1998
The famous Malawi-Cichlids are as colorful as many marine fishes, but easier to keep and breed, with less technical effort. This Special provides useful tips from the specialist for successful maintainance. 64 of the most beautiful species ar e presented on the colorful poster! The fishes featured in this book are not just identified by their name but also code number. AQUALOG has developed an ingenious code number system which labels every known or newly discovered fish (incl. breeding forms etc.)with an individual code number. This number remains, despite any scientific renaming. Moreover, it enables you to communicate internationally about any fish without the danger of confusion regarding local names! If you require complete information on all fishes of this group, you'll find it in our AQUALOG-reference book "African Cichlids I Malawi-Mbuna"!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbeatable Books for the Aquarist, January 27, 2007
This review is from: Freshwater Coral Fish: Cichlids from Lake Malawi (AQUALOG Special) (Hardcover)
All of the Aqualog books are excellent value, although they are not particularly cheap. They are full to the brim with first class colour photographs and to reproduce these in a book is an expensive process. Whether they are about the new strains of which are coming into the aquarist trade or in this case the beautiful freshwater coral fish species, they are the most comprehensive identification books you can buy. They never become dated because as new fish become available to the aquarist trade the books are updated. There is plenty of literature on Livebearers but none better than this.

Normally the books do not really deal with the basics of fish keeping, there are many and varied books that do that. They are in the main a fish identification encyclopaedia. But for those aquarists who are particularly interested in a single species or group of fish they are indispensable.
