An instructional book that doesn't instruct?, December 29, 2007
This review is from: Fretless Bass: A Hands-On Guide Including Fundamentals, Techniques, Grooves and Solos (Bass Instruction) (Paperback)
I was given this book as a Christmas gift. The chapter on "Vibrato" helpfully suggests..."when adding vibrato, it's best to wait until the end of the note", but offers no instruction whatsoever on how to actually PLAY a vibrato. This is supposed to be a tutorial??? Save your money, friends.

5 Strings only!, July 19, 2006
This review is from: Fretless Bass: A Hands-On Guide Including Fundamentals, Techniques, Grooves and Solos (Bass Instruction) (Paperback)
This seems like it would be a somewhat decent product if you had a 5-string fretless. I bought it without looking at the picture on the front cover, those are apparently all 5-string fretless basses. The techniques they discuss in this book seem to be the same as plain old fretted bass techniques. They don't discuss how to train your ear to find the notes either.
