All of the bits are 1/4-inch shank, solid carbide or carbide tipped, and sharpened to a razor-sharp edge for super smooth results. They come in a wooden box; will cut all composition materials, plywood, and softwood; and can be used on handheld and table-mounted portable routers.

You can experience several router functions with the 9-piece Basic Bit Set with its variety of bits. Includes: 1/4" and 3/8" dia. straight bits; 1/2" dia. Mortising; 1/2"x14 degrees dovetail; 3/8"x1/2" rabbet; 1/4" radius round-over; 5/32" radius roman ogee; 3/8"x1/2" flush trim; 1/4" dia. panel pilot bit, all with 1/4" shanks.

I am sure this is a great router bit set, but the bits were not properly secured in the box during shipping - which caused them to shake loose and rattle around inside the box. By the time the package was delivered the carbide edges were severely chipped, which made the bits useless. The picture of the bit set on Amazon did not show the type of box that was included with the set. Refer to Freud's website for an actual picture of the set. The picture on the Amazon product page shows a box that looks like it actually would secure the bits pretty good during shipping, but unfortunately that is not the box that is included with the set. Needless to say, I returned the set to Amazon.
