About the Double-Flute Straight Bit Set
The Freud 6-piece double-flute straight bit set lets you make grooves, dados, or rabbets. The computer-designed sheer angle slices the wood cleanly leaving a surface so smooth that sanding becomes unnecessary. The bit sizes range from 1/4-inch diameter to 1-inch diameter in 1/8-inch increments. Designed for use on hand-held and table-mounted portable routers, these carbide-tipped, 1/2-inch shank straight bits cut all composition materials, plywood, hard wood, and soft wood. Sizes range from 1/4-inch diameter to 1-inch diameter in 1/8-inch increments.

Use this bit set to make grooves, dadoes, and rabbets. These bits cut all composition materials, plywoods, hardwoods, and softwoods. They're great with hand-held and table-mounted portable routers.

I am a big fan of freud bits for a couple reasons. 1: they are durable and hold a great edge; 2: they are reasonably priced for their high quality. the value here is in the set as opposed to buying them individually. this set comes in a large case which can be handy if you dont have some other storage solution already. If you are just beginning to get a router bit collection together, this is a good starting point. go for the 5 piece round over next. stick with 1/2" bits whenever possible.

Sharp? I didn't realize just how sharp til trying to remove them from the finely crafted box that they came in. If your not savy about router bits as I am/was, I highly recommend the use of gloves when first removing these babies, and when you place them back in the box leave a swath of shank exposed large enough for your fingers to grasp for removal. Do they cut wood? Oh yeah! Although I'm a novice, this is my first router and first router bits, my experience so far has been highly positive. There's no resistance plunging into hardwood and cutting into or along the edge is smooth as greased bearings. The box is a work of art itself. Freud makes a HIGH quality product and this set of bits is no disappointment.

If you build boxes, cabinets or anything requiring a dado, these six bits are the most used in your collection. For some reason these short bits, easily used without a plunge base, are frequently hard to find at the local hardware. Freud bits last longer than chain store brands and when purchased together the price is excellent.
