Back-Cutting Design for Smooth, Professional Paneling
If architectural accuracy is a priority to you, the 99-571 is your answer. Thanks to its back-cutting design, this router bit can produce panels that are absolutely flush with a doorframe and have a full 1-1/2 inch reveal.
Use the 99-571 Raised Panel Router Bit with Back Cutter on any table-mounted portable router that accepts a 1/2-inch shank for creating professional-quality raised panels on doors and paneling, as well as decorative tops, plaques, and molding. The resulting panels will exhibit a glassy smoothness, even when you're tackling cross-grain applications.
Create a classic double-sided look on your panels with the patented 54-562 radius back cutter--or, if you're looking for a more contemporary appearance, replace it with the optional 54-560 square back cutter. To give you compatibility with most stile and rail cutters, the kit includes shims that allow for tongue thickness adjustments.
The 99-571 features a one-inch carbide height that easily accommodates stock measuring 3/4 inches.
Durable Design with Protective Coating to Resist Heat and Corrosion
Freud equips all of their router bits with their exclusive TiCo Hi-Density MicroGrain carbide for maximum durability and cutting life. In addition, Freud shields their bits from heat, rust, corrosion and wear by coating all of their Quadra-Cut Router Bits with their exclusive non-stick, red Perma-SHIELD coating.
The 99-571 Raised Panel Router Bit with Back Cutter is three inches long with a 1/2-inch shank and an overall diameter of 3-1/2 inches. This bit produces a beautiful two-radius design with a large radius of 1-3/16 inches and a small radius of 5/32 inches for a unique, custom look. Freud cutting tools are backed by the Freud Limited Lifetime Cutting Tool Warranty to ensure customer satisfaction with every purchase.

This is a really smooth cutting bit. Especially considering the overall diameter. But, be aware that it does not have a guide bearing. I have no idea why it wouldn't but it doesn't. It still works just fine it just takes a little more work to set up. Great bit...could've been better.

Makes for a very nice raised panel- did leave some burn marks on the red oak I was machining. Probably had more to do with my lack of experience than with the bit. I was also expecting a bearing- not sure how I'll do curved panels without one.
