5.0 out of 5 stars The only blade I use
I started using Freud Diablo blades about 5 years ago because I found that they are extremely well balanced, make exceptionally fast ,smooth, splinter free cuts. Even there framing blades are smooth enough for finish work. I am a professional finish carpenter and will settle for nothing less. If a store I'm shopping for blades does'nt carry these I leave to shop for them...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sharp, but too much flex
This is a pretty good blade, sharp and very thin kerf, but I don't like it too much for framing. It makes clean and effortless cuts, but the metal of the blade, the circular part, is too thin, and so it bends very easily. To see what i mean, put your thumbs near the center of the blade, and wrap your fingers around the rim. This blade will flex a quarter of an inch...

I started using Freud Diablo blades about 5 years ago because I found that they are extremely well balanced, make exceptionally fast ,smooth, splinter free cuts. Even there framing blades are smooth enough for finish work. I am a professional finish carpenter and will settle for nothing less. If a store I'm shopping for blades does'nt carry these I leave to shop for them elsewhere. They cost a little more than your run of the mill blades(the yellow ones) but are well worth the few extra bucks and will last 10 times longer. Professional tip: After using any blade for a long period of time they tend to collect pitch in the blade tips, the blade may not be dull, just dirty. I pull them from the saw and soak them for a few days in turpentine, this will help release the pitch from the blades.

I was just working with a framer who had this blade on this Mag 77 and I was stunned at how fast this blade cut through wood. It's hard to believe that a blade could make that much difference. All cuts with this blade were effortless. We ripped a 6"x10"x12' beam on the 6" side. You would have thought we had just used a table saw. This is a sweet blade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super blade, January 7, 2009

This is an excellent value in a thin-kerf, general purpose disposable blade. The coating works well, as does the thin-kerf design- you have to be really lax on providing material support for this blade to bind. I use it for general construction, mostly 2x4 and 4x4 cuts, but have been impressed how little splintering I get when cutting plywood down to size- and that's not something this blade is designed to do. The teeth are very, very sharp and retain their edge. While using one of these blades to cut 1x6 cedar fence planks to size, I carelessly laid the plank too close to a steel wheelbarrow I was using for support. The thing went right through both plank and the wheelbarrow tub. Yes, stupid and careless, and it cost the blade a couple of teeth and me much embarrassment. But it kept cutting all day, and cut well- impressive.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sharp, but too much flex, February 15, 2009

This is a pretty good blade, sharp and very thin kerf, but I don't like it too much for framing. It makes clean and effortless cuts, but the metal of the blade, the circular part, is too thin, and so it bends very easily. To see what i mean, put your thumbs near the center of the blade, and wrap your fingers around the rim. This blade will flex a quarter of an inch without much effort. In practical terms, this means that the blade is very prone to binding in any cut that is not perfectly, perfectly straight, especially when ripping 2x lumber. For the money, I think the Bosch 24T blade is a better value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the rest, March 6, 2008

These blades beat the others hands down. Almost too good for just framing. Cuts through wood like butter. You pay a little more for them but the results make the cost worth it.

I replaced a factory Ryobi blade that was very old and had cut cut into a few non wood things, it was so old it would smoke when I cut anything. So i broke down and bought this blade thinking I was buying for the hype and pretty red paint (even though it was only a couple bucks more than the cheep blades I expected a top performance for my money). I was absolutely AMAZED! Not only did it make the cut effortlessly it was noticeably quieter (though you still need ear plugs if you don't want to do deaf prematurely). The cut was so easy i had to relearn how to stay on the line because the cutting goes FAST! It has a tinny kerf which worried me for longevity, but so far it still cuts like new. This is without question the only saw blade I will ever buy again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, well worth the money, August 8, 2010

From the price and the look one might think these are "throw-away" blades in the pejorative. But no, after many many cuts, a close examination under a 20x microscope shows almost no wear to the itty-bitty carbide tips. These blades are thin and light, but precise and surprisingly robust. The thin kerf means less power is required to cut through a given board. This really matters in 5/4 plywood or hardwood decking, but means faster work everywhere else. They are only "throw-away" because they cost less than the price of sharpening them. There might be enough carbide in the tip for one re-sharpening, but it would not be cost effective. I welcome ideas in the comments section for how to recycle these beauties. Highly recommended to the hobbyist and professional alike.

Flawless performance in water saturated exterior studs and 3/4" plywood. It made a mediocre circular saw perform like a top of the line one.

Any time you can cut 1/16" off the end of a 2x4 and can actually pick up the 1/16th inch piece of wood when you are done, you know you are using a very good blade. I used this blade for framing my basement. the blade that came with my circular saw lasted about 35 minutes, and this diablo blade took over and is still going strong several days later.

I have to help some family to remove a deck. I tried to rip through the top layer with the blade that came with the saw, it did OK for the first 20 boards, then just couldn't do anything. Went out and bought this blade, put it on my $40 circular saw...and ripped right through the top boards and the 2x10 trusses like butter. This blade works exactly as advertised.
