Freud Router Fence,

This review is from: Freud FT2010 Deluxe Edge Guide (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased the Freud Router Fence for my Freud router. The quality is as expected from Freud, excellent. The fit and function were perfect right out of the box. The micro adjust works great and I have had a ball making 3/4 inch fluted columns on a 4 x 4 post, which will eventually become the post that holds our mail box. I had absolutely no problems fitting the fence to the router, as received, right out of the box. I would recommend both the Freud 3 1/4 hp plunge router and the fence to any serious wood worker.[...]

Excellent product but it came without any instructions. Not too difficult to set it up but it took awhile and I had to call Freud USA to find out that two springs (included in kit) were not needed any more. Still not totally sure how to use the plastic spacers on edge but the work I've done with the edge guide is simple and excellent. Simple instructions and tips would be very helpful and appreciated.

Adjustability Bad,

This review is from: Freud FT2010 Deluxe Edge Guide (Tools & Home Improvement)
Having recently purchased a FT2000, I bought the Edge Guide attachment as well, Out of the box, the finish appeared good, but when I tried to actually run the adjustment nut in or out, I realized something was wrong with the fence, it WASN'T seated in the slot, it was riding on top of the slot. This was due to the fact that the fence is stamped steel, not cast aluminum or something similar. After an hour with a file, I ground down the edges of the fence where they fit tightly into the slot in the guide it was designed for. While it works well enough now, I'll be buying a Micro Fence soon. By the way, the router itself is great! Added 5 days later: The fence is suprisingly tight afterI filed it down. I approached a piece of hickory today with the router/fence combination, and to my suprise, it held up to the task, but I'll still buy a micro fence within a week.
