Great Blade - Great Price,
By A Customer
This review is from: Freud LU82M010 10-Inch 60 Tooth TCG Crosscutting and Ripping Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor (Tools & Home Improvement)
This blade is the best value available for a 60T fine cutoff blade - bar none. The cuts are silky smooth with little or no tearout. I've used Freud blades in my shop for years, and you can't beat them when you consider the combination of price and quality. This blade in particular has yeilded great results.

I recently purchased this blade to use in my Delta miter saw. After making many test cuts I determined it was a worthy blade and proceeded to use it to cut some wide oak crown molding which I was installing. It worked beautifully!! There was no noticeable tearout on the red oak molding, and the edges of the cut appeared as though they had been planed! I highly recommend this blade for use in your miter saw. I have said it before, and I'll say it again - I am hooked on the quality and value of Freud blades.

miter saw hazard,
By A Customer
This review is from: Freud LU82M010 10-Inch 60 Tooth TCG Crosscutting and Ripping Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought this blade for rough and general use on a compound miter saw, keeping a Forrest blade for fine work. This blade is OK in a table saw but I found that it has a nasty habit of grabbing small cut-offs on my Delta CMS and throwing them. This happened once too many times... the last time it shattered the lower blade guard. As a result I retired the blade from use on the CMS. While replacing the blade guard on the CMS (which cost me more than this blade) I discovered that the dust chute had chunks of cut-offs wedged in it. I haven't had this problem with other miter saw blades (Delta, Forrest, Freud) so technique isn't the issue. The blade works just fine on a table saw for general use but get a blade with negative rake on the teeth for the miter saw. Your saw, your body, and your wits will be better off for it.

....master of none. This blade has all the great aspects of a typical Freud blade - quality carbide, well built, anti-vibration slots, lifetime warranty, etc. It does alot of things reasonably well, but isn't particular strong in any regard, other than the TCG teeth are more durable than other grinds. Several of Freud's other general purpose blades crosscut better, rip more efficiently, have faster feedrates, and are generally more versatile. Being that it's full kerf, it also bogs the motor on my saw more than many others. I just can't find an application that gives this blade any advantages over others in my shop. I much prefer the LU86, LU88, and even the LU84.

Great blade for my Radial Arm Saw...,

Got this blade to replace my current 24 teeth blade on my Craftman RAS. With the 1st few test cuts on oak, it resulted a very smooth cut on the surface and the edge of the cut is razor sharp. There was virtually no broken wood piece at the edge at all. I also test cut it on a piece of plywood (1" thick) and got the same result. This is a great performance for the price.

This is the closest thing to an all around blade for the table saw. It is the "ONE" to use. Value wise nothing comes close. Rip 3/4 inch plywood - no problem. Cross cut 1" hardwood - no problem.
Put this on the saw and start cutting - it will be a pleasant surprise how quiet it runs.

It's probable that we didn't get exactly the blade that we wanted, but we got this for our Dewalt table saw and found that it cuts much slower than our previous (dull) blade and tends to burn the edge (it might be that we are out of alignment--but we didn't have that problem on the old blade and nothing has changed). It also has a very wide kerf, much bigger than we expected. If we hadn't already used it, we would have returned it and got something different.

I used my Home Depot/Rigid miter saw with a Craftman carbide tip blade to cut off 2x4's. (I tossed the Rigid's steel blade long ago). Occassionally I would need it for miter cuts of harder wood and the results were just terrible. But with this blade, I can have very smooth and precise cuts. It is one of the best $30 I spent -- How did I not think do it sooner?

You're not going to believe this, but...... I bought this blade in 2004 on sale to replace the OEM blade that came on my Table Saw. This blade made perfectly smooth cuts on Oak, Cherry and Cedar without so much as a tooth mark: cross cut or rip cut. After about 2 years of casual use, it started to leave a fuzzy edge so I bought the WWII to replace it. I was not impressed- the WW blade left very subtle tooth marks (on the same saw and set up mind you) that were visible when holding the cut towards a light. Not drastic, but subtle. The WW required much more feed pressure and vibrated pretty bad when cutting.
I cleaned the pitch off the Freud with a brass brush and blade cleaner, and it was back to normal. Freud blade cut with less vibration and less feed pressure than the WWII. While I was not impressed with the $100bWWII, I can recommend this LU82M010 blade all day long. It is very impressive for a $30 blade. This is a Triple Chip blade according to the Freud catalog. I also notice that the picture of this blade does not show the laser cut anti-vibration slots my blade has (the long s-shaped cuts). |
