5.0 out of 5 stars Cuts like hot knife through butter
I purchased this blade for use on my compound miter saw. It cuts very well leaving a very smooth finish in all the woods I've tried: oak, maple, cherry, walnut. I espeCially like the teflon coating, all my other saw blades have developped rust over the years no matter how hard I try to keep them clean. 3.0 out of 5 stars Nice finish, but tearout is disappointing
I've been using the stock blade on the dewalt mitersaw I bought new a year ago. Now that I'm getting into something besides chopping off pine 2x4s, I wanted to get a nicer blade. I've always been of the mindset, "buy the nicest stuff available--it will be a pleasure to use and will last much longer than the cheaper alternatives," and was led to this blade. Freud's...

Among the finest blades I've seen yet. I'm remodeling an old house, and need to cut new base boards (oak). It isn't kidding when it says "Glass Smooth". This blade in my DeWalt 706 is an ideal setup.

Beware, even a blade of this quality is not a replacement for proper support of the wood. If you are doing fine work with good wood, invest the time to create a sacrifical backstop and throat plate for your mitre saw. The stock plates on my DeWalt are great for general work, but if you want 5-star results, put in the effort to set up your saw correctly.

I've been using the factory blade on my Delta 12 inch chop saw, what a mistake. The Freud LU85R012 cuts perfectly. I should have bought the Freud when I bought the saw. Don't wait, buy it.

The title says it all, you can't beat this blade. I really don't think there is any room for improvement here. I don't know what I did without it before! If you've got a decent chopsaw and a stock blade, you are missing out. This blade supercharges your miter box with glass-smooth cuts, less tear-out, thick carbide for many resharpenings, no blade flex (that I noticed) and therefore, perfect finish grade crosscuts. Leaves the edges as sharp as can be. Be careful when you first take it out of the box, this blade is truly sharp. YOU NEED THIS BLADE! Now I'm looking for more Freud products. Way to go Freud!!

I bought this blade to assist with the installation of a hardwood floor, and it totally exceeded my expectations. I was installing prefinished 3/4" solid Hickory (3, 4, and 5" wide planks) and most cuts were at a 45 degree angle. This blade sliced through it flawlessly without chipping at all. It wasn't until it dulled and I bought a Freud Diablo (which was terrible for this job) and then a top-of-the-line CMT blade (decent, but not as nice, and oh the noise that cuts right through your earplugs) to tide me over while this one was being sharpened that I really appreciated it. It made it through about 400 square feet of hardwood before it needed sharpening, and wood doesn't get much tougher than Hickory. Had no problems at all with the blade bogging down, but it was attached to a heavy duty Dewalt DW716 miter saw (which I also highly recommend). It also doesn't have the very annoying high pitch "ring" that the CMT blade does when you finish the cut.

I wouldn't recommend anything else, it is well worth the money.

I won't say I have tried all of the saw blades available, but I have tried many of them. Freud blades have my attention. They cut extremely well, stay sharp longer, and provide jointer smooth edges that when glued together leave no seam! Competitively priced, Freud blades give the best bang for the buck. I don't use veneers. My pieces are made from solid hardwoods - oak, maple, etc. Any of these projects could be splintered by using a cheap blade. I am a fanatic with squareness and appearance. Freud blades give me the cuts I need to make my projects come to life!

Hi everyone, I must admit, I was quite skeptical about this blade especially considering the cost, but I knew if I did not like it, I could return it. Not anymore... I used the blade today and I must say the cut really is the smoothest I have seen with any blade.

Another note is how quite it cuts through the wood, both cross cutting and ripping. So far it looks like it is going to be worth the money. Take care.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE blade for trim., June 23, 2004

This review is from: Freud LU85R012 12-Inch 96 Tooth ATB Crosscutting Saw Blade with 1-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
"Produce Glass-smooth cuts". They are NOT kidding about this one... I use this blade solely for trim. Faces of the cut are like they're sanded with 220, the angles are razor sharp, and there is zero tearout. The sawdust that comes out of the back of the saw is like a fine talcum powder. Very impressive blade! Worth every penny if you're going to be doing fine trim work.

This blade cuts very smooth with no splintering. I use this on my Delta 12" lazer chop saw for finish work. I had one of these for years and had it resharpened until the teeth could be sharpened no more. I replaced it with a Forest chop saw blade bucause I use Forest on most of my other saws and they work great but the Forest blade would not make the smooth cuts I needed so I went back to this Freud balde. I have been woodworking for over 40 years and in my openion, this is the blade to use for finish work. There are other blades out there that will equal the performance of this blade but not at this price!

I ordered this blase to cut 4 5/8 poplar crown moulding. Very smooth cuts with minimal back tearout. I did not use a sacrificial base, but if I has I believe there would have not been any tear out. This blade is dramatically better than the 60 tooth Bosch blade that came with my saw, and that was an acceptable blade. You must go slow and not force the blade especially with steep blade tilts and you will get cuts that do not need sanding. I have never used other high end blades to compare to
