5.0 out of 5 stars Best I've ever used, January 3, 2006

This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've been an amateur woodworker for 25 years and in the last 5 or 6 years gotten into more and more projects that require the "right tools". I bought this blade 4 years ago when it first went on sale in our local area and I love it! Cuts whatever I feed into it with no difficulty and leaves a glass smooth edge. A little pricy in my local area to sharpen but that's life.

At this point all my blades are Freud and I'm a cheap SOB at heart so that's saying a lot.

Jim - a frugal New England woodworker

5.0 out of 5 stars More versatile than most crosscut blades, April 22, 2006
This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
Most high quality crosscut blades cut cleanly but fall short in their ability to rip well or handle thick stock. The LU88 has some general purpose capabilities that many crosscut blades don't. It's tooth geometry features ATB carbide and a 15 degree hook angle that allow it to rip materials up to about 6/4" thick. Most crosscut blades have a very low or even a negative hook angle, which provides a polished edge, but it also causes burning on almost any rip cuts. The LU88 is alot more versatile than most crosscut blades and cuts just a bit cleaner than my Forrest WWII. If you don't need to do alot of heavy ripping with it, I think you could do nicely using just this one blade. It's thin kerf design makes life pretty easy on my saw's motor too. Very nice blade, and priced pretty reasonably.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this blade!, May 2, 2006

This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I'm finding this blade tough to beat for the price. Crosscuts are easily as clean as my Forrest's at about half the price, and it rips better than other crosscut blades I've used. In fairness, my Forrest rips thick material better. The LU88 has large teeth, Frued's best carbide, anti-vibration slots, and teflon coating. Great for crosscutting and general purpose use on a TS, but I wouldn't recommend it for a CMS or RAS because of the aggressive hook angle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teflon Coating is a nice feature., June 13, 2001
This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is the first Teflon Coated blade I purchsed, and not the last. It offers a great cut in my Delta Contractor saw. It compares to blades costing twice as much. Highly recomended if you're using a smaller HP saw. O-clearance inserts help too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Performs well on low powered saws, July 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I reccomend this product to a hobbiest with a 1 HP saw. It gave me very clean cross cuts. It requires much less feed pressure than any other blades I've used. If you want quality cuts from a low powered saw, this is the blade for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Blade, April 1, 2007
This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
This crosscut blade is a great performer. I still haven't decided if the perma-shield coating makes a difference or not. However, this blade makes flawless cuts, and it runs very quietly. I use it on my table saw with a crosscut jig and it make perfect clean and smooth cuts every time. Freud saw blades continue to impress me as a high performer for a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth cuts all the way, September 12, 2007

This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
This blade produces some exceptionally smooth cuts. I've used it in both my table saw and miter saw, and can't ask for much more. No jagged edges, no saw marks, no tearing. Even with my underpowered, direct drive table saw cuts come out clean.

Is it better than a Forrest Woodworker? No idea, never used one. It is definitely better than the stock blade you get with the saw. I also got the Freud 24T ripping blade. Together, I can get my table saw to actually cut wood.

This is a nice blade does a good job of cross cutting oak plywood and boards. But there is some rib out at the end of the cut. This blade is not up to par with other Freud blades I have purchased

5.0 out of 5 stars Cuts Like A Hot Knife Through Butter, November 4, 2009

This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this blade realizing that it was a crosscut not a combination blade. It was rated very highly in Scott Spencer's Blade Comparison on Sawmill Creek forums, both for crosscuting and for ripping stock up to 1-1/2 inch thick. I haven't yet tried ripping up to 1-1/2", but for 3/4" rips, it leaves a very clean edge with no burning and the stock feeds easily. Crosscuts are amazing, the best I have seen with any blade I have used - no burning, no tearing of fibers, just a nice, clean cut which is what we all want when woodworking. I would heartily recommend this blade to anyone and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like this blade, February 27, 2008

This review is from: Freud LU88R010 10-Inch 60 Tooth ATB Thin Kerf Crosscutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
Never purchased what I could call a top-of-the-line blade for my 2.5HP Craftsman 10" table saw until this one. I crosscut 3/4" red oak and was so impressed with the smooth wood surface. Hardly any bog down, not to mention the low volume of saw dust produced. The thin kerf and teflon coating must be adding to this affect.
This is the best blade I have ever owned, but since this is my first professional blade, I can't give it a 5 star rating, although it could very well be that. Very pleased!
