5.0 out of 5 stars Precise and Simple, June 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Freud MG009 9-Inch Marking and Measuring Gauge (Tools & Home Improvement)
This item is well built and functions as expected. It is particularly useful in that I was unable to locate this insrument at any hardware stores near my home. It is a must for precise joinery and I am very happy that I purchased it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, April 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Freud MG009 9-Inch Marking and Measuring Gauge (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a great product for the price. I've been using mine to help make handcut dovetails. Plus it's from Freud who, at least in all of my purchases, has always delivered a product that was exactly as stated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Woodman Dan, December 9, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Freud MG009 9-Inch Marking and Measuring Gauge (Tools & Home Improvement)
This has a great feel of quality and should have been at home in a custom wood box. The moving scribe and the locking brass knob are a precsion fit. This is a pro kool tool.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice tool that will last a long time, August 6, 2003

Freud sells nice tools (I have a Freud biscuit joiner as well) and this marking gauge is no exception. It's perhaps not *quite* as nice as a really fine handmade gauge from Bridge City, but it costs a lot less and 99% of the functionality is there.

I don't have mine anymore- I gave it to a friend who does more cabinetry work, like hand cut tenons, and can make use of the gauge's ability to strike two lines at one pass. If you don't need the ability to lay out tenons at one pass you might choose instead the tool I replaced mine with: The Lee Valley marking gauge. A little more industrial looking, but just as functional and maybe a bit more rugged.
