5.0 out of 5 stars Woodworker II met its match
Own both the Woodworker II and this blade, both great blades. Freud finish is smoother, and the blade is so well balanced there is nor run out and no wobble! my only qualm is shipping if this blade by Amazon needs to be better, the sleeve is thin, and this has to be wrapped properly to avoid chipping the carbide teeth when handled by Oops brown delivery.

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat dissappointed as well
At the time of purchase, this blade was back-ordered for about 2 months. All forest blades were on back-order as well. I managed to find it from another vendor and got a good deal on it. I own a ton of Freud router bits and an several saw blades and I've always been satisfied with their quality. The blade seems to work great for cross cutting with my INCRA miter sled,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, Sharp, Quiet, October 24, 2007
This review is from: Freud P410 Premier Fusion 10-Inch 40 Tooth Hi-ATB General Purpose Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I bought the Premier Fusion out of exasperation with my Woodworker II. This has turned out to be a far better blade for my Delta saw. Mine is the top contractor's model just below the Unisaw. The Forrest blade vibrated and burned from new, but not the Freud. I can rip or crosscut jatoba, koa, maple, whatever and it doesn't burn. It WILL burn if I stop moving for more than a split second but not nearly as badly as the Woodworker II. There is nearly no vibration which is a real problem with the Forrest. Plus, the Freud is far quieter in operation.
It cuts satin smooth, possibly owing to its being only 4 months old and still "scary sharp". I can even rip poplar and go straight to gluing with no fuzz. This was a really good purchase for my shop and I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One size fits all..., October 20, 2008
This review is from: Freud P410 Premier Fusion 10-Inch 40 Tooth Hi-ATB General Purpose Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a nice blade. It cuts very clean. I like it better than the 30T and 40T WW2 in plywood and melamine. I haven't done extensive ripping in thick dense stock however. But in the 3/4 material I have tried there was no burning in the curly cherry I was using. And the rips were glue ready. Saw marks were minimal as well. The feed rate felt good. However as far as feed rate It wasn't a 24T or 20T rip blade. When I cut some Home Depot Melamine with the right feed rate I got 0 tear out. I looked, and didn't find any. It was like using an 80T Hi-ATB blade (which I did for comparison). But I guess zero is zero. So as far as 1 blade for most tasks I would highly recommend it. I don't know if I would justify the price if I were going to be doing a ton of ripping in thick stock, and or a ton of plywood or cross cutting. I'd probably be better off getting a blade dedicated for each purpose for the longevity. But as a hobbyist using a single blade for a whole project with great results, definitely. Just check around for sales as with anything else.

At the time of purchase, this blade was back-ordered for about 2 months. All forest blades were on back-order as well. I managed to find it from another vendor and got a good deal on it. I own a ton of Freud router bits and an several saw blades and I've always been satisfied with their quality. The blade seems to work great for cross cutting with my INCRA miter sled, especially with plywood. Virtually no tear-out at all. However, I did notice significant burning when riping boards. I assumed it was time to re-align my blade with the rip fence. Upon inspection with only a ruler (referenced from the rip fence), I found that the blade was not flat and had almost 1/32 of run out. Granted, my saw is only a Hitachi contractor saw and it could be a poorly made arbor. However, I also own Freud's 50 tooth full kerf combo blade and it doesn't burn 4/4 lumber nearly as bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the best, April 1, 2010

Well this blade has turned out to be my all round favorite. I used to switch back and forth between rip and crosscut blades which worked well but slowed me down. I had (still have) an outstanding Tenyru crosscut and good solid Freud rip. Finally I got tired of playing switcheroo all the time, checked the reviews, and bought this redhead. Wow - it is by far the fastest smoothest cutting blade I've ever worked with. Chip out is the best of any blade I've ever tried. And it's quiet! I absolutely love it. Crosscuts are as smooth as any dedicated crosscut blade I've seen. Rips are excellent. If I'm hogging out rough sawn to mill into good lumber I'll might reach for my old Freud rip blade but for finish ripping this baby is great.

The only negatives I can see is that Freud suggests that this blade only be sharpened with a computer-controlled sharpener. I haven't had to sharpen it yet so don't know if that's going to be an issue. Also if you want to use it to cut small dadoes rather switch to your dado set this blade does not leave a flat bottom.

I'm somewhat of a newbie-- and I made a newbie error. The chart says this is an exceptional blade for ripping and crosscutting. Well I used it to rip 8/4 birch, and it dulled the blade pretty quickly. I think ripping 4/4 is the sweet spot for this blade. Next time I'm using a dedicated ripping blade. Overall, it's a fine cutter.

1.0 out of 5 stars I want to throw this blade in the trash--updated, July 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Freud P410 Premier Fusion 10-Inch 40 Tooth Hi-ATB General Purpose Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am a passionate woodworker that spends about 30 hours per week in my woodshop. My usual table saw blade is the Forrest Woodworker II. Recently, one of my cheaper general purpose blades reached the end of its life so I decided to give the Freud P410 blade a shot based on the good reviews. After one day of use... actually, after only a few minutes of use... I was ready to take this blade off and throw it in the trash. It left burn marks on both sides of the cut... the blade pushes back on any wood I try to cut... pushes so hard I had to muscle it through. After the first cut, I started standing out of the way because it wants to kick back the wood. I checked the alignments of my table saw and all was perfectly aligned. Blade was at a perfect 90 degrees (as tested with my engineers square.) The blade was also perfectly parallel with the fence. I put my Woodworker II back on the saw and it cut perfectly with no effort and no burning. I then tried a cheap general purpose blade with the same results (albeit not as smooth a cut as the Forrest..but with no burning and push back.) I put the Freud back on and it was terrible. Later that day, my brother-in-law used my table saw (I failed to mention the new Freud blade). After he ripped a few boards he said to me (You need a new blade. That one must be broken or really needs to be sharpened.) He was amazed when it was brand new. So, either this blade is worthy of the trash or I have a defective blade.

Update: I sent the blade back to Freud per their request (I had to pay return shipping). I also sent samples of the oak I had cut so they could see how badly it burned both sides of the cut. They tested it and called with the results. A very rude guy told me there was nothing wrong with their blade and it cut like butter. He refused to discuss why it was burning on my saw when a Forrest blade and even a cheap hitachi blade did not burn at all. Freud did send me a new blade and the wood they test cut.... and then I understood the problem. They test the cut on soft pine. I'm cutting oak. I already knew it could cut pine because I tested it. So, my conclusion is this blade cuts soft wood very nicely. But, for oak, 3/4 to 5/4 thickness, it struggles. So, I'll reserve this blade for soft woods and use my Forrest or some other blade for the hard woods. Overall, I remain very disappointed with this blade and equally disappointed at Freud based on the way their customer service guy that tested my blade treated me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Plywood Yes, Rip No, October 8, 2008

This review is from: Freud P410 Premier Fusion 10-Inch 40 Tooth Hi-ATB General Purpose Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor and PermaShield Coating (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased this blade for my tablesaw for plywood crosscuts. I selected this blade in hopes of having a general purpose blade that I can just leave on the saw. I found the plywood cuts from this blade to be exceptional. No chipout at all.

I am disappointed in the ripping ability of this blade. It burns. I spent a lot of time re-aligning and tunning up my table saw before I even mounted the blade so I can only blame the blade at this point.

So, I highly recommend this blade for plywood and crosscuts but I am sticking with my Frued thin kerf rip blade for ripping.

I have purchased several saw blades over the years but none rivals this for smoothness of cut. I no longer have to switch blades when I change from ripping to doing a crosscut------this blade handles both types of cut equally well. Hardwood slides through it like butter and I've seen no tearout on 3/4 inch veneer.
