The Freud Ultimate Red Perma-Shield 10-inch 3-blade combo pack includes an 80-tooth cut-off blade LU85R010, a 50-tooth combination blade with raker LU84R011, and a 24-tooth flat rip blade LM72R010. All three blades feature Laser-cut anti-vibration slots to drastically reduce vibration and sideways movement while extending blade life. With the ability to give consistent swirl-free finishes, the thick MicroGrain carbide tips allow for more cuts between sharpening, and the non-stick Perma-Shield coating reduces gumming, rusting, and corrosion. A thin kerf design enhances performance and extends the life of underpowered saws.

Are good blades worth the extra expense? Freud's done some impressive engineering and has come up with features that make these blades today's popular choice for woodworkers. The story on Freud blades is that the micrograin carbide/titanium tips stay sharp longer; the laser-cut body helps keep the hard steel blade flat and true; tri-metal brazing prevents cracks and failed joints; and the antikickback design ensures safer operation. While we may not understand the physics of these features, we do know these blades cut great and run quiet and chatter-free. They're Teflon-coated to reduce friction and heat buildup and to protect against rust, corrosion, and resin buildup. It's easy to imagine coaxing better performance and quality work out of older or underpowered saws with these Freud blades. Buying the blades in this three-pack is considerably less expensive than buying these popular blades separately. --Tim Block

I have owned a Delta unisaw for 3 years. Hard maple is one of my main wood choices. After recieving these blades, I now understand how a rip blade differs from a cutoff blade. I used to get great cuts from my first Freud blade, but now, ripping butcherblock is effortless, and clean. I suspect during cabinet building with some of my cherry stock, the combination blade will be more a fixture in the saw, however, this weekend is time for prefinished oak flooring, where the 80 tooth finecut blade makes cuts as clean as...as it should be.

I USE THESE BLADES ON MY POWERMATIC 66 SAW. I HAVE THOUSANDS OF HOURS OF EXPERIENCE BOTH PROFESSIONALY AND IN MY 1000 SF HOME SHOP. THESE ARE WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE BEST BLADES YOU CAN BUY. YOU WILL KEEP FEELING THE CUT BECAUSE IT'S SO SMOOTH AND THE QUALITY OF CUT IS 10 STARS. FOR THE AVERAGE WOODWORKER, EACH FREUD BLADE WILL LAST A LIFETIME WITHOUT THE NEED TO SHARPEN.
