These rail and stile cabinet door cutter head sets consist of two insert cutter heads which accept carbide insert knives to give you the flexibility of changing knives for eighteen different looks and the cost savings of resharpenable knives. These versatile cutters can make recessed panel door frames with 5.5mm groove using the optional RS-M groovers as well as raised panel door frames, and glass door frames. The RS1000 contains the two heads, the 1/4 inch groovers and a storage case. The RS2000 contains the two heads, the 1/4 inch groovers, nine sets of profile knives and a storage case. 4-7/16 inch diameter. Covered by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

I purchased this set some years ago when it was a relitively new design and have never been dissapointed. for the money you cant beat the value. it has allowed me to seperate my work from the work of others by being able to offer a very wide variety of profiles. all cuts are superior to router bits and most other shaper cutters. at the time the set came with shims for creating the correct stub tenon thickness for the different profiles available and pinpoint accuracy is paramount with this set. It also allows a "full-cut" to be taken, this is handy when working with poorly joined edges as you can offset the fence to join on the shaper. obviously freud engineers realy did their homework on this one. The quality of cut rivals the work produced by many of the so called dedicated door manufacturers. if you are serious about making high quality doors then this set is worth the investment. setup can be a little tedious at first but after practice youll have perfection. good luck.

As a professional joiner, I find the product to work easily and effectively. The only issue I have is thatit comes with bushings to reduce it to a 5/8 arbor and my machine has a 30mm arbor. So when it arrived I had to have the bushings bored out.

I make cabinets for a living and thought these would be a good choice based on price, flexibility and experience with other Freud products. They may be OK for a hobbyist, but if you rely on these to make money you'll spend too much time on set up and find that some of the profiles won't allow you to put the finished doors through your drum or wide belt machine. Freud tech support was very helpful, but agreed they couldn't meet my needs with this product.
