I've purchsed Freud blades for my contractors TS before and have been very pleased, so I decided to buy their dado. The quality of this blade is excellent! The case which holds the outter blades, chippers, and shims is a thin plastic but firm foam lines the inside to keep everything supported and in-place. The blades and chippers are kept separated, while they're in the case, by a dimped plastic disks; they seem to do a decent job. As for the cut - smooth and glasslike on both the sides and bottom!! The only thing that bothers me is that the chippers are not labeled. To choose which configuation of chippers for a particular thinkness requires you to mic them.

It cleanly and easily cuts through oak to particle board. No chipping or tear out.

The only improvement to this dado blade would be to stamp the chipper with its thickness. Otherwise it is a very good purchase.

Having two dado sets already, I was frustrated that I couldn't get a chip-free cut in oak plywood. Even though I felt that the $154 price of this set was steep, I decided to try it. What a pleasure! I only have one suggestion: color code the shim stock so that quick placement is possoble. As it is now, you have to mic each shim to get what you want. I used some nail polish to color-code each one, but Freud could do us all a favor and identify each different size when the product is made. I would certainly recommend this dado set to anyone-beginner or experienced!

I just bought this dado set and used it to mill about 15 1/2" dados in red oak. At first I had to check to make sure I was cutting. This set is almost as smooth as my Forrest WWII! The dados were very sharp with perfectly flat bottoms. No shims were required. Although a lot of money, I think it is well worth it. Better to buy a great product once than a poor one first.

My only complaint is that the shims are not coded in any way. Would be nice to see some color coding for thickness. If not for that, this product would get 5 stars.

I purchased this dado blade on the advice of some friends ... whom use it. My first reaction was, I NEED to enlarge the directions!! The instructions are printed in a very fine point font which, makes them very hard to read. So, I went down to my local kinkos and printed out a 50% enlargement(Now 11 x 17"....Problem solved.)(I also laminated the directions so that I could mount them on my shop wall)

My first cut with the dado set was through some laminated MDO for a miter track, which is being used as a fence extension on my table saw. I wasn't able to make the required dado in one pass to the size constraints of my saw(13/16"max width) so, I made several smaller passes. To my amazement, the dado was flat bottomed and the edges perfectly square. I can see now why so many folks at my woodworking forum are using, and recommending this blade. It's an excellent choice!!

I don't believe you're going to find a better blade out there in this price range. Well worth the money!!

A case of "getting what you pay for"... and this a very good product. Functional, sharp, well-made, and comes with a decent case. No regrets in buying this.

This my third Freud blade and I agree with all the reviews about how clean and smooth the cuts are. The quality of this blade is excellent! The case is plastic and uses dimpled plastic to separate the outer blades and chippers so there are no damage to the carbide tips.

Once you use the right combination of chippers per the chart, it cleanly and easily cuts through oak to particle board. No chipping or tear out.

I have owned this dado set for 3 years now and I have used it to cut many grooves and dados in lots of different materials with near perfect results. When I first bought the blade I encoutered an issue regarding the mislabeling of the product. No matter how many times I attempted to get the correct product from Freud they would never correct the problem. I am keeping the blades but as a matter of principle I will never buy another Freud product again or recommend it to anybody. I would rather spend the extra money and get courteous reliable service along with my product.

Freud is known for a quality product. Working a lot with projects I am happy with paying for the SD model. It delivers a crisp clean cut as promised in the Super model.I use a portable Table saw which restrictes me to a 6 inch blade, instead of a 8" inch. I also have to keep with a traditional dado. Really, once you start to use this set. Freud makes it simple even with shims U can tell its well thought out and put together tool. I would have to say the only improvement, thus far is the case it comes ion could be little less generic in design, but then again its not bad and makes the set more affodable. Also, Amazon makes it easy on the sweet price and delivery as usual!

The SD506 and SD508 are amazing products especially if you own a caliper to size the undersized boards you get from most home improvement warehouses. These make for a tight, flat bottomed joint.
