About Freud's Avanti Blades
Freuds Thin Kerf (TK) Series of blades provide precise, quality cuts for most every application. The advanced thin kerf design removes less material -- thereby reducing the strain on your equipment and increasing the life of your saw. The slim design requires less cutting power from both you and the saw, making it ideal for underpowered saws. A Silver I.C.E. coating on all Freud TK blades helps reduce friction, heat build-up and gumming, thus extending the life of the blade by as much as 50 percent.
About this Melamine and Laminate Cutting Saw Blade
The Freud 10-inch 80T thin kerf laminate saw blade is designed to give maximum results in melamine, laminate, and Pergo flooring applications. For easy use and added precision, the blades feature an anti-kickback design and Tri-Metal Brazing for impact resistance. The blade has expansion slots that are strategically placed to allow for blade-body expansion from centrifugal force and thermal expansion during actual use. The slots are used to prevent air turbulence and eliminate vibration.

I purchased this blade for my Craftsman contractor table saw in order to trim and size Pergo laminate flooring.
The blade was the right one for the job. I obtained straight, clean cuts, with no chipping or marring the boards. I had expected cutting the Pergo planks would be more involved, but this blade made short work of the job. When I needed to cut some make-up planks last month, my good opinion of this blade was confirmed. Well worth the price.

I am not a wood craftsman by any means, but I did some on-line searching for the type of blade to use for laminate flooring. I helped with my buddy's floor the first weekend using the general purpose blade that came with the table saw we were using. With nothing to compare to I noticed the boards would kick back in your face if you weren't careful. While waiting for this blade to arrive at my house, I changed the blade out with a Ryobi blade that was on my miter saw and noticed a big difference and thought it could not get any better than this. Then my Freud Avanti blade arrived via UPS. I noticed right away the quality of steel used compared to the 'Made in China' stuff that most blades are made of. This particular blade is made in Italy. I cut my first laminate board and there was absolutely no change in pitch from the motor of the saw, meaning there was no resistance to the motor. It cut through the floor like it was nothing! I also noticed the blade was very true and balanced with no wobble like the other blades I was using. For the $$ compared to what the big department stores carried you could not beat this deal.
