I have never read this author before & I was in the book store yesterday 5 minutes from closing I could not find anything to read, so I grabbed this book because I loved the shoes the girl on the cover was wearing. Once I started reading I could not put this book down. The story was different and fresh, you didn't read the first chapter and know exactly how it was going to end. Jules was a perfectly flawed hero. Not only was it a fun book to read, after I put it down I wanted to discuss it with someone because it raised so many interesting questions; Is GOD female? Is there such a thing as soul mates? This book is definitely a keeper.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I must admit that it isn't normally something I would have read but being a big fan of Erica Orloff's I of course picked it up. The whole story is fantastic! I really enjoyed the whole idea of soul mates, do they exist and are they meant to be for real or only a dream of one. The ending was great and not entirely expected because I thought it might go in a different direction but either way would have been fine with me. I laughed out loud trying to imagine Albert Einstein in a bar listening to ABBA and the thought of a female higher power was a good idea too. I look forward to the next wonderful book by Ms. Orloff.

So fun to read - this book is a little detour from Orloff's typical novels, including all the substance & romance typical of her books and adding in whimsy and humor to make the book addictive fun! A book that questions the meaning of life and our own mortality - along with Albert Einstein in drag ... need I say more?

If you mix the movies Ghost and Wristcutters with Samantha Hunt's novel, The Invention of Everything Else, you get Erica Orloff's Freudian Slip. It is not your usual run-of-the-mill romance and definitely exceeds the genre well into the stratosphere. Freudian Slip is written with extreme intelligence. What a fun story, so smoothly written! The clever and creative twist on how heaven and hell work was so amusing, I didn't want to stop reading, and I certainly didn't want it to end! A unique and fresh approach to a romance, which I thoroughly recommend.

I'd read enough from this author to know she is talented and witty. And I'm a man who doesn't mind reading romance or women's fiction novels, so I opened the first page expecting a good read.

Instead I got a great read. THe author sucked me ain't and held me there. So much so I carried this book with me to work and got busted by my supervisor twice for reading. I didn't care I had to finish.

Throw out the notion that all romances are predictable or that it's clear from chapter one which boy will get the girl. Forget the ridiculous notion that men can't read a book billed as romance. Toss aside you're preconceived notion and let the author take you on a great tongue in cheek ride that is both heart warming and hilarious. This novel might even change the way you view the world around you.

Katie Darby's life takes a turn that makes Murphy's Law seem auspicious by comparison. She catches her boyfriend, who happens to be her most important client, in bed with her best friend. At the same time, her home is ransacked and her beloved dog is missing. Higher Powers intervene and assign an angel, radio shock jock Julian Shaw, to help her cope. Julian is not only reluctant in his new role, he's barren of all human compassion and wholly unsuited to Katie's needs. But 24/7 exposure to her life arouses feelings he didn't know he was capable of experiencing. Fortunately for both of them, although he's an angel, he's not quite yet dead.

I loved this book for many reasons. It took risks, and they paid off. Want to try writing a sex scene between a woman and an angel she can neither see nor touch? Ms. Orloff pulled it off. She also pulled off making God a woman and Albert Einstein one of Her case workers. Every scene is a delight. A steady tempo of perspective shifts keeps the tension high.

FREUDIAN SLIP is foremost a romantic comedy. But readers bent on finding themes won't have far to look. There's enough in here on soul mates, the spiritual realm, and even cosmology to keep book groups up late talking. In fact, Ms. Orloff provides a list of suggested discussion questions at the end of the story.

I admit I was hesitant to read FREUDIAN SLIP because both the publisher (Harlequin) and the cover suggest the book is for girls. It's for everybody. When you're finished reading it, give it to your husband or boyfriend; they'll love it too. And you'll both be able to say you beat Hollywood to the discovery.

This book was very refreshing and different than anything I have ever read. It makes you laugh one minute and cry the next. I love how Ms. Orloff mingles science with religion and philosophy. I also love that God is a nurturing woman who excepts everyone as they are. Julian gives Kate strength she didn't know she had. It is amazing to see how a tragedy can be part of God's master plan and turn into something truly wonderful and unexpected. This book shows that love can conquer all.

Hot and steamy New York has book editor Katie Darby taking a taxi instead of the subway. She and her cabby discuss God's sense of humor even as his radio is blasting the raunchy show of Julian Shaw. When she arrives at her boyfriend's apartment she finds him with her best friend. Crying she leaves in the same cab that brought her over only to find someone busted in and robbed her apartment and her dog is missing. All this occurs right before the anniversary of her father's death and now she is hearing voices in her head demanding she do things she never would even think of doing.

Julian Shaw loves being a "pervert" and enjoys making a living from a life of depravity and decadence. However, he has made numerous enemies especially from the moral right and from family members of his "guests"; one of these zealots shoots him. Julian falls into a coma, but in his comatose state, voices demand he assist Katie find a better life; the stakes are his soul. He figures how hard this can be until he tries and falls in love with her; now if it means his eternal soul so be it because kissable Katie is his for the rest of his albeit seemingly short life.

This superb romantic fantasy is filled with whimsical love as matchmaking seems to come from beyond. Katie and Julian are opposites and in fact she makes it clear to her taxi driver what she thinks of the city's top rated pervert. Fans who relish something refreshingly different will enjoy the aptly titled FREUDIAN SLIP as the antihero finds his soul and heart when he decides to become the champion of love instead of depravity.

I heard a lot of good things about this author, so I was a little let down because I was expecting something more out of the writing. The story line was super cute and the characters just flawed enough for me to enjoy, so it was good. I will read more of Orloff, but this one was just so-so.
