The microscope’s head has a 45-degree vertical inclination, with a 360-degree rotation capability to ease eye strain and provide a more comprehensive view. The head has 55.0 to 75.0mm interpupillary adjustment for individual eye spacing, and paired 10.0x widefield eyepieces with 10.0 to 40.0x zoom achromatic objectives to provide a range of magnification and color correction of magnified images. Each eyepiece has diopter adjustment capabilities, with high resolution lenses that are parfocalled and parcentered to keep the specimen in focus and centered when the magnification is changed. Each is also equipped to accept a 23.0mm reticle. Zoom control knobs with a slip clutch and rack-and-pinion gearing provide sharp focus and help prevent damage to slides or lenses. The microscope has upper 12.0V 15.0 watt three-way halogen illumination for bright, hot lighting, and lower 110.0V 5.0 watt fluorescent light for cool operation, with base-mounted light controls for upper or lower only, or dual illumination. The stage includes a frosted glass plate to allow light to pass through, and a reversible black and white plate for contrast with specimens. The stage also has locked-on clips to secure slides, and a blue filter for transmitted light. The microscope has an all-metal frame with a gray enamel finish for durability, and a fixed-arm stand for stability. The microscope measures 340.0 x 171.0 x 242.0mm/13-3/8 x 6-3/4 x 9-1/2 inches (H x W x D). The microscope has a three-wire grounded cord and plug, and includes a 2.0X SLR photo adapter and a 0.4X “C” mount, as well as rubber eye shields, instructions for use, and a vinyl dust cover for storage. Vinyl resists oil, has low moisture absorption, and is non-conductive. The microscope is suitable for elementary and middle grade levels.
