I picked 'Halo' to be our wedding song ... a lot of people do not know about this "B-side" treasure, but it is a great song!

4.0 out of 5 stars Friday I'm in love: the perfect guitare song, September 3, 2003
By
This review is from: Friday I'm in Love / Halo / Scared As You (Audio CD)
I first heard Friday I'm in love in my parent's car back somewhere around 1993. What a feeling I had. Every beautiful things about pop music, and particularly about The Cure is in that silly single. What I prefer in music is to decompose a song and to listen again and again forever on. I think I listened to Friday I'm in love a billion times, trying to figure out how all those guitares where taking each others on, listening to the crooning voice of Robert Smith and all the funny screams he did. And the lyrics are gorgeous. To me, Friday I'm in love is the picture of Love in itself: fun, deep, red and blue -- like the album's cover. Also, there is 3 others songs on the single: Halo is a perfect B-side with heartlight lyrics. Scared as you is quite good for its inherent violence. And then again, Friday I'm in love is throwed in a remix form: another way to explore all the guitares and pieces of that mad puzzle that is Friday I'm in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great single to listen to when in love, January 26, 2001

This review is from: Friday I'm in Love / Halo / Scared As You (Audio CD)
"Friday I'm In Love" is a great single that I would recommend to anyone who likes The Cure. "Friday I'm In Love" has a lush guitar and a great chorus. The lyrics can get a little redundant but then again isn't falling in love the same? "Halo" is defiantly the main reason to buy this single. It is arguably The Cure's best b-side and would make it on my list of favorite Cure songs. The lyrics are very beautifully written. "Scared As You" is a little lacking in something but still good. "Friday I'm In Love(Strangelove mix)" only takes one listen to skip the next time. I am not a fan of Remixes so I guess I really can't judge. Nonetheless "Friday I'm In Love" is an essential single for "Friday I'm In Love" and "Halo." This single is a fresh breather from depressing heartbreak Cure songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Halo will make you fall in love!, October 24, 1999

Halo could very well be the best love song The Cure has ever written. Makes you want to fall in love! Besides, the strangelove mix makes you want to grab someone and dance like rock stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Single by The Cure From Their "Wish" Album Era, December 12, 2004
This review is from: Friday I'm in Love / Halo / Scared As You (Audio CD)
"Friday I'm in Love" is a fabulous single by The Cure from their "Wish" album era. This CD includes a really cool remix of the title track, "Friday I'm in Love (Strangelove mix)," and two great B-sides, "Halo" and "Scared As You." The "Strangelove mix" sounds like an acoustic version of song, and is slightly different from the original.

"Scared as You" is much less up-beat -- with remorse being the primary mood. It is basically a song about someone apologizing for saying something that upset the person they love.

"Halo" is an ultra-happy love song. It is so happy, that your friends will complain its too happy if they are grumpy bumps on the log. I think this song ranks as being one of the best Cure B-sides there is. It greatly compliments the theme and emotional tone of "Friday I'm in Love." It is worth getting this single for this song alone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Single, Awesome B-sides, March 3, 2006
This review is from: Friday I'm in Love / Halo / Scared As You (Audio CD)
I agree with most reviewers who have written about this CD single. The title track is one of the Cure's hits from the Wish album and needs no introduction, but the Strangelove mix included in this cd really takes it up a notch. It opens with some open guitar parts, which builds up very nicely to the main verse of the song. The beats and basslines have been beefed up so that it has a 'retro-dance' feel somewhat similar to Smashing Pumpkins' 1979, making an already happy song even happier!

And yes, the true gem of this cd is the b-side Halo, truly one of the best songs that the Cure has ever written. It captures the unique feel known as 'happy-sad' that is the Cure's trademark. A worthy track which should have been a great single of its own if it was included in the Wish album.

The other b-side, Scared As You, has a different feel to the other songs, more urgent and immediate, but not so out of place that you need to skip over it. In fact it kinda segues nicely from Halo to the Strangelove mix of Friday I'm in Love...

All in all, great 17 minutes of music. Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars The title song is an instant keeper., April 27, 1999

Two versions are offered for "Friday I'm In Love", Both are great, although the Strangelove Mix seems to catch my fancy as in - "I've gotta move to it" kind of rythmn.

This song is destined for lots of airtime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Halo, February 21, 1999

This review is from: Friday I'm in Love / Halo / Scared As You (Audio CD)
Halo is most definitely the best love song The Cure have written to date. When Love Song starts sounding a bit overused and cheesy, turn to Halo, it will bring back everything Love Song brought you.
