Editorial Reviews

Expanding on the feature film, this poignant series centers on the rural town of Dillon, Texas, where the coveted state football championship rings are held in the highest regard. Dillon's promising high school team, its star quarterback, and newly appointed head coach feel the mounting pressure of the town's pride and honor riding on their shoulders as a new football season kicks off. The soundtrack includes Tony Luca, The Killers (soundtrack exclusive), Spoon, Outkast, Whiskeytown, Stereophonics, Starsailor, Jibbs, So Divided, Drive By Truckers, Iron And Wine/Calexico, Jose Gonzalez, Chris Brokaw, and Explosions In The Sky.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great CD for any FNL fan August 30, 2007
By Jeremy
Format:Audio CD
The Friday Night Lights soundtrack is perfect for anyone who loves the show, and is definitely enjoyable to a stranger of the series. Some standout songs on the album are The Killers' "Read My Mind" and "So Divided" by And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead. But no doubt the best song is Tony Lucca's "Devil Town", an amazing, hard to find song that defines the show perfectly. The only problem with the CD is its lack of great instrumental songs played throughout the show. It doesn't have the show's opening theme or Explosions in the Sky's "Remember Me as a Time of Day." The CD does have Explosions in the Sky's instrumental "First Breath After Coma", but it's not the best song they could've gone with.

This is a must-buy for any Friday Night Lights fan, or even for anyone wanting to listen to great songs by mostly unknown artists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Friday Night Lights TV Soundtrack February 24, 2008
Format:Audio CD
This is a great soundtrack that brings back all the good memories of the first season of FNL every time I listen. I do miss the theme song though. There's a good variety of music, just like the shows had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Soundtrack December 26, 2009
By Ruby G.
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
The soundtrack for the first season of FNL is a great mix of indy music. While it wasn't possible for every song featured on the season to be included in the soundtrack, the album has a great mix of songs that recreate the overall mood of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars FNL- July 26, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Just like the series- this is a perfect mix for for any fan. All tastes are catered for, again just like the show. The second soundtrack is just as good. This isn't the maudlin teen ballader-ing of most TV soundtracks (I am talkign about you...one tree hill) this is GOLD !!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Music selection is vague February 9, 2014

I'm sure where they got this music but lots of the good songs are missing.
There are better sources to get the songs we remember from this great TV series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed January 5, 2014

FNL has an amazing soundtrack...in the show. I have no idea how these specific songs were picked to represent the overall aura of the show, but I consider this soundtrack a disappointing failure. I purchased FNL: Vol 2 soundtrack a year ago and loved it. I thought this would be just as good. I should have listened to the reviews on Amazon already. If you're looking for a good FNL soundtrack, buy Vol 2. There are only 1-2 good singles on this album. Buy those separately. Not worth $10.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bought it for 2 songs and those are great!!! July 12, 2013

I bought it to get Devil Town and I Turn My Camera On. Those are great! I really wish the opening theme song was on it. The other songs are just okay.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Tejas Rock Music, but ..... January 28, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I thought there would be more of the 'background' music from Explosions in the Sky. If you want a good simple mix of Tejas BarBand stuff, this is a OK CD, but if you want more of the soul of the music, shop and buy the CDs by Explosions in the Sky.
