5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a system that works!
I have been more than 50% gray since my early 20's so have been dyeing for years. I prefer brighter reds but the minute the salt and pepper roots come through it looks horrendous. I've tried just about every product on the market to maintain color and this is the only one I've found which delivers results.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great idea, but terrible product
This product left my hair sticky and flat. I tried skipping regular conditioner and using less glaze, but the result was always the same. The product has a slimy consistency and doesn't smell good either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a system that works!, April 18, 2008
This review is from: John Frieda Radiant Red Luminous Color Glaze for Deeper, Richer Shades of Red Hair (Health and Beauty)
I have been more than 50% gray since my early 20's so have been dyeing for years. I prefer brighter reds but the minute the salt and pepper roots come through it looks horrendous. I've tried just about every product on the market to maintain color and this is the only one I've found which delivers results.

You have to have dyed red hair to start with; just trying to use the glaze to give you red lights from scratch is NOT what it's for and it won't work. It's designed to hide growing roots and brighten dyed reds as they fade between colorings. It's not going to restore your color to its just-dyed depth but it does keep the color much brighter than without. It also gives the growing roots enough of a red tint that they are not noticeable unless you get up very close, like close enough to be doing your make up in a mirror. My roots are VERY noticeable otherwise, being now almost completely gray/silver.

I haven't noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair, but it's no worse either and this product shouldn't weigh your hair down as others have mentioned as you're supposed to rinse it out completely. One word of warning - it stains surfaces (including your skin) just as badly as a regular dye, so be careful not to splash it anywhere you don't want it.

I use the entire John Frieda red system (shampoo, conditioner and glaze) and it's well worth the outlay. Including this system and the dye, I can maintain salon quality color at home for about $25 a month.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the price, March 27, 2007
This review is from: John Frieda Radiant Red Luminous Color Glaze for Deeper, Richer Shades of Red Hair (Health and Beauty)
I bought this product to see if it could do the job to replace my Ojon Revitalizing Mist and Ojon Shine & Protect Mist. For the price of this luminous color glaze, I'd say it's a keeper. You apply this product on after you shampoo & condition your hair. If you accidentally get some of this stuff on your shower curtain, don't freak, it washes off with water easily. Once I finished blow-drying my hair, I noticed the beautiful shine it gave my hair and the softness. For the color glaze part, I noticed a little difference in my red highlights but not much. I'm hooked on this product and the price helps my bank account.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product!, June 26, 2010
This review is from: John Frieda Radiant Red Luminous Color Glaze for Deeper, Richer Shades of Red Hair (Health and Beauty)
I have naturally red hair that has as I get older is losing its red and going more of a washed out copper. I have been to salons for the color glaze and those do work much better than the home glaze BUT price wise....this is the best! It's easy to do and yes your hair has a subtle change in color after 1 use. The more often you use it the deeper the color gets. It does leave a greasy film on it so I'm going to try both the shampoo-glaze-than condition method and shampoo-condition-glaze-shampoo again method and see if this helps. Even with the greasy film its a great product. think it smells good but each to their own!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this stuf, March 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: John Frieda Radiant Red Luminous Color Glaze for Deeper, Richer Shades of Red Hair (Health and Beauty)
I really am SO happy I found this product. I mix it with the John Frieda blond to give my hair the exact color it was, before those rotten little white hairs started appearing. I didn't want to dye my hair with permanent dyes and deal with root growth showing. Now, I use it once a week and it my hair looks great. For those who talk about the feeling after you use it (slightly greasy) I simply wash my hair one more time with a gentle shampoo after using the color. It takes care of that and doesn't wash out the color.

5.0 out of 5 stars enhances shine and red colors beautifully, August 10, 2009
This review is from: John Frieda Radiant Red Luminous Color Glaze for Deeper, Richer Shades of Red Hair (Health and Beauty)
I have dark brown hair and use a semi permanent deep auburn to color my hair at home because I can't afford to do it in the salon and am too scared to permanently change my color at home. Even with just a semi permanent dark reddish brown color, my red was intensified after a week of using this product! I have used the brunette glaze in the past and here is the secret to keeping your hair from getting greasy...don't follow the instructions!! Instead of shampooing, conditioning, then glazing, it works much better if you shampoo, then glaze, THEN condition. It helps keep your hair soft without developing that "film" commonly associated with these type of products. Trust me! Don't knock these color glazes until you try shampooing, applying glaze, and then conditioning after rinsing the glaze. Also, use the glaze EVERY DAY, even on days when you don't shampoo. It keeps the color bright, your hair soft and shiny, and it works for me!

This is a great and hard to find product. It adds just a hint of color and makes my very fine hair so soft, I love it!

This product didn't do a single thing it claimed. My hair isn't any softer or shinier and it defintely isn't even the tiniest bit redder. This stuff somehow made my normally dry hair GREASY (and yes, I followed the instructions and rinsed well) and the smell is horrible. I want my money back.
