Product Description

Size: 8 Inch

The exclusive design series. A combination of tradition and modern spirit in this new verion of the historical design. In 1905, Friedr. Dick developed a chef's knives series with massive collars, which replaced the rivets used so far. 1905"s special design has now been redeveloped and manufactured with modern materials and manufacturing techniques. The blade is made of special German stainless steel, XcrMcVMn. A high technology hardening process generates a finely dispersed martensitic structure with a unique, dynamic and sharp cutting edge

This fits the bill- and how!
EJ
It's thin, it's very sharp (with the factory edge), it's the perfect weight, not too heavy not too light, and it's nice looking.
Krotac
I would choose it again as my lone high quality knife.

Other than the $90 price tag, this knife is very special.
I was looking for a forged knife with a more exaggerated curve than my other knives, so I tried it. WOW. I can say have used Henkels and Wusthofs that F. Dick is far and away my favorite of the 3 brands.
This knife is superbly balanced. It came very sharp out of the box, and with frequent honing on steel or ceramic rod, it remains EXTREMELY sharp. Most of my other knives are MAC japanese stamped knives, so I wanted a forged knife to complement the kit. This fits the bill- and how! The japanese knives seem to retain the sharpness a bit longer, but- like I said- with frequent honing this sucker stays good and sharp. It does have a more exaggerated curve than most other chef knives, which is nice for mincing garlic and herbs. Don't hesitate if you find yourself wanting it- you won't be disappointed. This F. Dick. knivfe is excellent.

Very nice knife. Long blade with a sharp point for large food prep and for delicate work. Quite sharp out of the box. Likely will last the better part of a century, as I have some F. Dick knives from 1905 in the collection and they still sharpen up very well indeed.

I used to have the stardard knife that was issued in my knife kit as a culinary student, but now with this new knife I feel like I have a knife to fit my title of Chef. The balance is amazing, the grip is so much more comfortable than wood or plastic, and you dont even feel the steel on the handle. The blade is so sharp! I love this knife, I couldn't have made a better choice. If your serious about your passion for Culinary and want a knife that will on advance you down further paths, this is the one!

This knife is a beast! It's reeks of quality. It is sharp, big and heavy. I use it almost everyday for chopping and cutting. The handle is easy to hold and ergonomic in design, dare I say pretty? I am respectful of it's sharp edge and handle it carefully. It is heavy so be careful not to drop it. This is an old and respected brand and I can say that I am very pleased with it. It is my first very high quality knife and it really does make a difference in ease of cutting whether it's large mellon type fruit, pineapples, chopping nuts or slicing vegetables and cutting raw or cooked meats. I would choose it again as my lone high quality knife.

This knife is beautifully crafted. I love the look of the rings. Of course, function is more important than looks...and it gets five stars in that department too! I did just get it today, but I couldn't wait to use it, so I gave it a pretty good workout. I couldn't be happier! It feels great in my hands and it chops and slices wonderfully. I'll be adding more of the F. Dick 1905 Series knives to my kitchen!

I have the 8-inch knife. It is made with the same steel as Dick's contemporaries, but is about 20% less expensive. The exaggerated curve allows for a better rocking motion and makes preparation much faster than with my Henkel and Wustof knives with a more triangular blade. The rounded spine and thinner bolster make a pinch grip far more comfortable than my Henkel Classics. Other than the 10-inch knife, this may have been the last knife I ever purchase for the kitchen.

This F. Dick is superb. As an aspiring chef a good knife is fundamental. I've used a few other brands and styles of chef' knives but so far this 1905 stands out as the best; superior edge, perfect balance, and that angle. buy it. you will love it.

Both my husband and I enjoy using this knife. It's the most expensive knife that I've ever purchased but performs so well that I'm considering adding other knives from this manufacturer to my collection.
