5.0 out of 5 stars The Rolls Royce of window air conditioners
I have owned this for 2 months now, and I am so glad I spent the extra $$$ for this air conditioner. Simply, it kicks butt! It has every feature one could want, 11.4 EER and Energy Star compliant. It cools my 20'x10' bedroom with ease and quietly! plus I got a rebate for E-star compliance.

If you can afford it, it will pay for itself over the life of the unit...

2.0 out of 5 stars Loudmaster? Rumblemeister?? ANYTHING BUT QUIET!
I bought this unit 2 years ago because it's made in America and as the name suggests, it's built to be quiet. Unfortunately, it's been anything BUT quiet. In fact, it's the loudest air conditioner I've ever owned. I wish I could get my Frigidaire back, because it was a heck of a lot quieter than this.

Maybe for industrial use or an in-wall installation...

If you can afford it, it will pay for itself over the life of the unit with the extra energy savings. I give 5 stars for performance, 5 stars for features and 3-stars for high price. You get what you pay for, plus it's perfect for a bedroom where sound and programmability are very important.

Maybe for industrial use or an in-wall installation this would be OK. But I had this professionally installed in my office window and I've regretted it ever since. I still appreciate the fact that these are US-made, and they're pleasant over the phone and will try and help you. But what you're buying is a hulking, rumbling steel box, and it won't be as quiet as you hope.

One more thing: the old Frigidaire put out more cold air than this ever will, and yet it was only rated at 9,000 BTU. Go figure!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Customer Service I Have Ever Experienced, November 21, 2008
This review is from: Friedrich : QuietMaster SS10L10 Window Air Conditioner
My Friedrich air conditioner broke after only one month of use. Many months later, I am still dealing with customer service to get a new air conditioner. It has been a huge hassle. Don't waste your time or money with this corporation.

1.0 out of 5 stars Friedrich AC's are not worth the price, June 22, 2011
This review is from: Friedrich : QuietMaster SS10L10 Window Air Conditioner
Tenants at my housing complex are only allowed to install Friedrich AC's as per our lease agreement. After having bought this very expensive, US made product, I had every expectation that I would at least get my money's worth. As a tenant, I only use my AC in the summers. Beginning with the second summer, this supposed quiet master become more of a noise master. This behemoth is so loud that I have to raise my TV volume almost all the way just to hear it! Last summer, I had a freon gas leak repaired. This summer, it is no longer cooling and I find myself forced to invest in another one of these crappy AC's or to move. It's a shame to admit this but I have been around many Chinese made ACs that are far less expensive, quieter and cooler.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Air Conditioner I've Owned, July 31, 2011
This review is from: Friedrich : QuietMaster SS10L10 Window Air Conditioner
I have been living in coastal South Carolina since 1975, and most of those years I have used window units and through the wall air conditioners. I usually buy cheap units, because the salt air at the beach rots out the heat exchanger within a few years, and they have to be replaced even if they still run. I was given a 1 year old Friedrich Quietmaster in July 2010, and have been using it for more than a year now to cool our main living area, about 700 square feet. It is definitely the quietest window unit I have ever used. I will buy Friedrich from now on every chance I get. I hope the heat exchanger holds up, but even if not, the relative quietude is amazing. The reviews that complain about noise might have poor installation, is all I can guess.
