This review is from: Friedrich : US08B10A Wall Air Conditioner
Shopped a lot to find one to fit our pre-existing wall sleeves. The installation was very easy. The unit works very well. There was a bent frame but it did not seem damaged at all, the paint was OK, so I do not count this as a problem. It went into the wall easily, installed easily, and works very easily and quiet. Seems like a great brand much better than other cheap brands. Have had it for a year.

regret purchase,
This review is from: Friedrich : US08B10A Wall Air Conditioner
Purchased from PC Richards and a few months later the fan jammed. One year later after the warranty expired the fan jammed again. Because the fan was never free from hitting against something inside the unit, the unit was noisy. Not what I expected after paying up for a Friedrich product. Seller was not at all helpful. The second unit I purchased at the same time for a smaller room was barely better and quite noisy. Someone told me these units are manufactured in different parts of the world. Perhaps that explains the uneven quality. Friedrich : US08B10A Wall Air Conditioner

One more example of a company riding the wave of a reputation that is long gone and definitely no longer deserved. This air conditioner is cheaply made, poorly designed, loud and worse--it didn't last. I used the unit less than 10 times and the compressor was shot. The repair man said that it probably never 'cycled' properly, after I described how it had performed. But then he added that the noise was a damaged bearing. Dealing with Friedrich is even worse. Even under warranty, there is only one authorized 'dealer/tech' in my area--which is Chicago (not a small place) and they will charge me $300 to fix it. Under warranty! When I've complained (repeatedly) the service company said they're the only ones in Chicago because they're "The only ones willing to deal with them (Friedrich)."
I had the unit for two years, using it sparingly and covering it in the three off seasons. So it is only the compressor that is under warranty. So if I agree to let them fix it, I will have a thousand dollars invested--in an awful, poorly functioning appliance. Beyond that, it has been 21 days since the service people were here. They claim they are waiting for the part. For which I am to be charged the shipping. Under warranty! Do some research. You can find a better unit for much cheaper--that will be infinitely easier to repair if something should go wrong. And in my experience, that is a guarantee.
